Skyshow (Adelaide)
Skyshow was an annual fireworks event held in Adelaide, South Australia, from 1985 to 2006. The half-hour fireworks display was synchronised to rock and pop music and presented by local commercial radio station SAFM. Originating as an Australia Day celebration, the event was subsequently moved to late summer, usually February. Sister events were also held at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne, Australia and sponsored by Fox FM (Melbourne) and on Sydney Harbour by 2Day FM. Although, faced with serious financial difficulties in the late 1990s until rescued by the South Australian Government, it is estimated some 150,000 people attended the main festivities in Bonython Park, while many more watch from vantage points along the Adelaide Hills. The event ceased in 2006 after failing to secure funding for 2007. 2Day FM (call sign 2DAY) is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on a frequency of 104.1 MHz, and is part of Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network. Adelaide 500
The Adelaide 500 (also known as the VALO Adelaide 500 for sponsorship reasons) is an annual motor racing event for Supercars held on the streets of the east end of Adelaide, South Australia between 1999 to 2020 and again from 2022. It is sometimes known by its previous sponsored name of the Clipsal 500. The event uses a shortened form of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the former Australian Grand Prix track. It generally took place in February and March, contributing to what locals term "mad March", along with the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide and Adelaide Writers' Week. Bonython Park, Adelaide
Bonython Park is a 17-hectare park in the north-west Park Lands of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. The park was opened in 1962 and named in honour of prominent South Australian politician and journalist, Sir John Langdon Bonython. It is situated on north-western side of the River Torrens, bordered by Port Road. It is on the opposite side of the river to a golf course, and adjacent to the old Adelaide Gaol and the Police Barracks. Bonython Park forms part of what is known as Park 27, and since the dual naming initiative by Adelaide City Council in the early 2000s, Park 27 is also known as Tulya Wardli. Fox FM (call sign: 3FOX) is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on a frequency of 101.9 MHz, and is the flagship station on Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network. The station's transmitter is shared with the ATV-10 transmitter on top of Mount Dandenong. History Fox FM started life at 5PM on 1 August 1980.
