William James Craft
William James Craft (1886 – 30 June 1931) was a Canadian film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 60 films between 1910 and 1931. Jack Lipson
Jack "Tiny" Lipson (January 17, 1901 – November 28, 1947) was an American film actor. He appeared in over 85 films between 1927 and 1948. Career Lipson played character parts, and was usually uncredited. Due to his rotund, towering figure, Lipson gained the nickname "Tiny" and was usually cast as the "fat guy" in films. He played the role of King Vultan the 1936 serial ''Flash Gordon''. In 1941, he appeared in ''Never Give a Sucker an Even Break'' as a Turkish passenger aboard an airplane with W. C. Fields, whose mumbled remarks about the passenger's size prompt the retort, "You a big nose have it!" Two years later, Lipson portrayed a German sailor in the Three Stooges' short ''Back from the Front'', in which he is knocked unconscious and collapses on top of a suffocating Larry Fine. Kathleen Kerrigan (circa 1869 - January 17, 1957) was an American actress on stage and in the early years of films. Early years The daughter of John Kerrigan and Sarah McLean Kerrigan, she was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but moved with her family to New Albany, Indiana. Her brothers were actor J. Warren Kerrigan and film executive Wallace W. Kerrigan. Career Kerrigan's professional acting debut came on January 8, 1891, at Macauley's Theatre in Louisville, when she played the title role in ''Lady of Lyons'' and Galatea in ''Pygmalion and Galatea (play), Pygmaleon and Galatea''. Comedy Film
A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending (black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre. Some of the earliest silent films were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. When sound films became more prevalent during the 1930s, comedy films took another swing, as laughter could result from burlesque situations but also dialogue. Comedy, compared with other film genres, puts much more focus on individual stars, with many former stand-up comics transitioning to the film industry due to their popularity.
