Skeleton Warriors (video Game)
''Skeleton Warriors'' is a beat 'em up platform game developed by Neversoft and published by Playmates Interactive for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. It is based on the animated television series of the same name. Gameplay ''Skeleton Warriors'' uses 2-dimensional side-scrolling gameplay that combines both beat 'em up and platforming elements, along with occasional hovering motorcycle driving levels. The game uses a mix of pre-rendered sprites with polygonal backgrounds, and fully 3D rendered graphics. Reception ''Next Generation'' reviewed the Saturn version of the game, rating it three stars out of five, and stated that "in the end, if you simply can't get enough of side-scrolling action games, then you can count on this being one of the best". IGN rated the PlayStation version 5/10. The studio was founded by Joel Jewett, Mick West and Chris Ward in July 1994 and was acquired by Activision in October 1999. Initially, the studio worked with Playmates Toys, where they worked on the game ''Skeleton Warriors (video game), Skeleton Warriors'', which was based on a Skeleton Warriors, animated television series of the same name. Throughout 1996, the studio grew, and worked on projects with Crystal Dynamics and Sony Computer Entertainment, but due to internal conflicts, they were cancelled. ''GameFan'' (originally known as ''Diehard GameFan'') was a publication started by Tim Lindquist, Greg Off, George Weising. and Dave Halverson in September 1992 that provided coverage of domestic and import video games. It was notable for its extensive use of game screenshots in page design because of the lack of good screen shots in other U.S. publications at the time. The original magazine ceased publishing in December 2000. In April 2010, Halverson relaunched ''GameFan'' as a hybrid video game/film magazine.
