Siwa is a market center of Phidim Municipality in Panchthar District in the Mechi Zone in eastern Nepal. It was annexed to Phidim on 18 May 2014 to form the municipality. Zones Of Nepal
Until the establishment of seven new provinces in 2015, Nepal was divided into 14 administrative zones ( Nepali: अञ्चल; ''anchal'') and 77 districts ( Nepali: जिल्ला; ''jillā''). The 14 administrative zones were grouped into five development regions ( Nepali: विकास क्षेत्र; ''vikās kṣetra''). Each district was headed by a Chief District Officer (CDO), who was responsible for maintaining law and order and coordinating the work of field agencies of the various government ministries. Mechi Zone
Mechi ( ne, मेची अञ्चल ) was one of the fourteen zones of Nepal until the restructuring of zones to provinces, comprising four districts; namely Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar and Taplejung. Its headquarters are at Ilam. It comes under the Eastern Development Region of Nepal. The Indian state of Bihar is to the south, West Bengal and Sikkim in the east and Tibet to the north. The largest town is Damak in the Terai. The majority of the population in Mechi are Limbu, Chettri, Bharmin, Maithil and Meche. Administrative subdivisions Mechi was divided into four districts; since 2015 these districts have been redesignated as part of Province No. 1. Panchthar District
Panchthar district ( ne, पाँचथर जिल्ला) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern hilly region of Nepal. It is a Hill district of eastern Nepal. The district covers of area. Nepal Standard Time (NPT) is the time zone for Nepal. With a time offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) of UTC+05:45 all over Nepal, it is one of only three time zones with a 45-minute offset from UTC.The others are Chatham Island Standard Time, with an offset of UTC+12:45, and the unofficial Australian Central Western Time, with an offset of UTC+08:45. Phidim
Phidim Municipality is the headquarters of the Panchthar District in the Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal. Phidim was upgraded to a 'municipality' from a 'village', when a development committee merged with other VDCs ( village development committees) - including the Phidim, Chokmagu and Siwa villages - on May 18, 2014. It offers a route for trekkers and locals, who travel to and from the Taplejung district bordering with the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. It is also a commercial hub for the rural surroundings. Transport Phidim is connected to the rest of the country through the Mechi Highway, a road which begins in Kechana of Jhapa district and ends in Phungling. 1991 Nepal Census
The 1991 Nepal census was a widespread national census conducted by the Nepal Central Bureau of Statistics. Working with Nepal's Village Development Committees at a district level, they recorded data from all the main towns and villages of each district of the country. The data included statistics on population size, households, sex and age distribution, place of birth, residence characteristics, literacy, marital status, religion, language spoken, caste/ethnic group, economically active population, education, number of children, employment status, and occupation. Digital Himalaya
The Digital Himalaya project was established in December 2000 by Mark Turin, Alan Macfarlane, Sara Shneiderman, and Sarah Harrison. The project's principal goal is to collect and preserve historical multimedia materials relating to the Himalaya, such as photographs, recordings, and journals, and make those resources available over the internet and offline, on external storage media. The project team have digitized older ethnographic collections and data sets that were deteriorating in their analogue formats, so as to protect them from deterioration and make them available and accessible to originating communities in the Himalayan region and a global community of scholars.
