Sir John Hotham, 3rd Baronet (2 August 165525 August 1691) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1689 to 1690. Hotham was the son of Sir John Hotham, 2nd Baronet and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Sapcote Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Beaumont of Swords. He inherited the baronetcy on the death of his father in 1689. The House of Commons of England was the lower house of the Parliament of England (which incorporated Wales) from its development in the 14th century to the union of England and Scotland in 1707, when it was replaced by the House of Commons of Great Britain after the 1707 Act of Union was passed in both the English and Scottish parliaments at the time. Sir John Hotham, 2nd Baronet (21 March 163229 March 1689) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1660 to 1685 and in 1689. Hotham was the son of Captain John Hotham. He inherited the baronetcy in 1645 after his father and grandfather the 1st Baronet were executed by the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War. In 1660, Hotham was elected Member of Parliament for Beverley in the Convention Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Beverley in 1661 for the Cavalier Parliament and sat until 1685. Hotham Baronets
Baron Hotham, of South Dalton in the County of York, is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1797 for the naval commander Admiral William Hotham, with remainder to the heirs male of his father. Hotham was the third son of Sir Beaumont Hotham, 7th Baronet, of Scorborough (see below), and in 1811 he also succeeded his nephew as eleventh Baronet. Lord Hotham never married and on his death in 1813 he was succeeded in both titles by his younger brother Beaumont, the second Baron and twelfth Baronet. He had previously represented Wigan in the House of Commons. Beaumont Hotham, 3rd Baron Hotham, grandson of the second Baron, fought at the Battle of Waterloo and was later a General in the Army and sat as a Member of Parliament. He died unmarried and was succeeded by his nephew, the fourth Baron, the son of Rear-Admiral George Frederick Hotham, brother of the third Baron. Beverley (UK Parliament Constituency)
Beverley has been the name of a parliamentary constituency in the East Riding of Yorkshire for three periods. From medieval times until 1869 it was a parliamentary borough consisting of a limited electorate of property owners of its early designated borders within the market town of Beverley, which returned (elected) two Members of Parliament to the House of Commons of the English and Welsh-turned-UK Parliament during that period (sometimes called burgesses). A form of a Beverley seat was revived for a single-member county constituency created in 1950, abolished in 1955, and similarly between the 1983 and 1992 general elections inclusive after which the area was largely incorporated into one 1997-created seat Beverley and Holderness; the remainder of the seat contributed to two other late 20th century-created seats. Sir Charles Hotham, 4th Baronet
Sir Charles Hotham, 4th Baronet (c.1663 – 8 January 1723), of Scorborough and later of Beverley and South Dalton, was a British Army officer and Whig politician who sat in the English House of Commons and British House of Commons from 1695 to 1723. Biography Hotham was born in Bermuda, the only son of Charles Hotham (1615 – ''c.'' 1672), and Elizabeth (died 1685), daughter of Stephen Thompson of Humbleton, Yorkshire. His father was a prominent Nonconformist who lost his living as rector of Wigan after the Restoration and emigrated with his wife to Bermuda to take up a ministry. Minister Hotham lived there for the rest of his life. Shortly before his father's death, Hotham was sent to London where he lived under the care of his cousin Richard Thompson. Hotham was educated at Sedbergh School before entering St John's College, Cambridge in 1681, where he was awarded BA in 1685, MA in 1688 and elected a fellow from 1685 to 1692.
