Rio dos Sinos is a river in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. It rises in the hills east of Caraá ( away from Porto Alegre) at elevations above and covers a distance of about , flowing into the delta Jacuí in Canoas, at an elevation of only . Canoas
Canoas (), which earned city status in 1939, is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. With more than 340,000 inhabitants, it is part of the Porto Alegre conurbation and has the second highest GDP in the state. It is also the fourth largest city in the state by population. Canoas boasts a strong manufacturing-based economy and is the home to Canoas Air Force Base - ALA3, one of the most important bases of the Brazilian Air Force. The São Francisco de Paula National Forest ( pt, Floresta Nacional de São Francisco de Paula) is a national forest in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Origins Decree law 3.124 of 19 March 1941 created the National Pine Institute (Instituto Nacional do Pinho), a federal agency concerned with pine trees.
