Sinntal is a municipality in the Main-Kinzig district, in Hesse, Germany. It has a population of around 8,800. Geography Location Sinntal is located around 30 km south of Fulda in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse. The municipal territory lies at elevations between 220 and 585 m above NHN. It includes area in the ''Mittelgebirge'' Spessart and Rhön. Sinntal is located right at the border between Hesse and Bavaria. It stretches across the valley of the Sinn river from which it takes its name. Sinn (river)
The Sinn is a river that flows through the state of Hesse and the Bavarian province of Lower Franconia in southern Germany. It is about long and is a right, northerly tributary of the Franconian Saale. Course The Sinn emerges in the Franconian Rhön at the foot of the Kreuzberg near the local subdistrict (''Gemarkung'') of ''Neuwildflecken''. At Zeitlofs on the Hessian-Lower Franconian border it flows into the Schmale Sinn which joins it from the Dammersfeldkuppe to the northeast. Accompanied in places by the Würzburg−Fulda railway and crossed by the A 7 motorway bridge below Riedenberg, the Sinn initially flows in a southwesterly and then in a southerly direction to Gemünden, where it joins the Franconian Saale just under 700 m before the latter river discharges into the River Main. Bad Brückenau () is a spa town in Bad Kissingen district in northwestern Bavaria in the Rhön Mountains. Landrücken Tunnel
The Landrücken Tunnel is a railway tunnel on the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line. With a length of it is the longest tunnel in Germany. Geography The tunnel is in east Hessen between the stations of Fulda and Würzburg. Between the northern tunnel entrance of Kalbach (50° 24′ 22″N, 9° 39′3″E) and the southern end at Mottgers (50° 18′35″N, 9° 39′47″E) it crosses the Landrücken range which forms the Rhein-Weser drainage divide dividing the river basins of the Fulda and Main. Schlüchtern
Schlüchtern is a town in the Main-Kinzig district, in Hessen, Germany. It is located on the river Kinzig, approximately 30 km southwest of Fulda. Schlüchtern has a population close to 16,000. Location Schlüchtern is located in the '' Bergwinkel'', the area between the ''Mittelgebirge'' or low mountains of the Vogelsberg, Spessart and Rhön. Also the river Kinzig flows through the municipality, in southwest area of a hill called ''Landrücken''. History The town itself is mentioned in a document for the first time in 1278. However, since by the mid-12th century there was a family using that name, the town is likely older than that. The oldest documented local establishment was the Benedictine abbey of Schlüchtern. A foundation document allegedly signed by Charlemagne was discovered to be a medieval forgery.
