New Democratic Party (South Korea)
The New Democratic Party (, NDP) was a South Korean opposition party that existed from 1967 to 1980, when it was forcibly dissolved by the ninth amendment of the constitution promulgated by Chun Doo-hwan the same year. New United Democratic Party
The New United Democratic Party (; NUDP) was a political party of South Korea from 1987 to 1991. The party was established as the Peace Democratic Party (; PDP) in October 1987 by Kim Dae-jung and his followers to contest the presidential election that year. The party later merged with Democratic Party to form the Democratic Party. History Following the June Struggle of 1987, and the June 29 Declaration, which promised direct, democratic election of the president in the upcoming presidential election in December of that year, speculation for the potential candidacy of Kim Dae-jung for the presidency grew. Conservatism () in South Korea is chiefly associated with the People Power Party (South Korea). Traditional South Korean conservatism is a political and social philosophy characterized by Korean culture traditions originating from Confucianism.
