Sinking (album)
''Sinking'' is the second studio album by British electronica band The Aloof, released by East West Records in the United Kingdom on 27 May 1996. Following the rave-influenced style of the group's debut album ''Cover the Crime'' (1994), ''Sinking'' brought the band into a darker, more mellow direction, as the result of the group's desire to deliver a "band" feel, aided by the members' newfound disillusionment with club culture. The record fuses styles of techno, dub, trip hop and jungle music and incorporates string arrangements and sombre lyrics. The album's amorphous musical style was reflected in East West's wide-spanning promotional campaign for the record, which included a two-hour ''Party Zone'' special on MTV Europe. The Aloof
The Aloof were a British electronic music group. They formed in London, England, in 1990. The group consisted of Ricky Barrow, Gary Burns, Jagz Kooner, Richard Thair, and Dean Thatcher. They were active during the 1990s, and released four studio albums: ''Cover the Crime'' (1994), '' Sinking'' (1996), ''Seeking Pleasure'' (1998), and ''This Constant Chase for Thrills'' (1999). Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. FFRR Records (sometimes credited as Full Frequency Range Recordings) is a dance music label previously run and founded by English DJ Pete Tong. Originally the dance music label of London Records, FFRR is currently a sublabel of Parlophone, a division of Warner Music Group. The label name references the recording technique (full frequency range recording) developed by Sir Edward Lewis's Decca Records. The original incarnation of FFRR was founded in 1986, and also had two subsidiaries: Double F Double R Records and Ffrreedom Records. The label's ear logo was copied from the original FFRR logo source, as found at the top of the London Records logo. The label name was stylized as ffrr, rather than FFRR.
