Sinister Street (TV Series)
''Sinister Street'' is a British television series which originally aired on BBC in six episodes between 10 May and 14 June 1969. It is based on the 1913 novel of the same title by Compton Mackenzie.Waller p.8 The cast included Jo Kendall, Kate Lansbury, David Collings, Jeanne Moody, Michael Osborne, Valerie Gearon, Joan Hickson, Elaine Taylor, Angela Baddeley, Arthur Hewlett and Jo Rowbottom. Jo Kendall
Josephine Mary Kendall ( Robinson, 17 February 1940 – 29 January 2022) was a British actress and writer. She was known for her work on the BBC radio comedy show ''I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again'', which debuted in 1964, and for her role as Peggy Skilbeck on the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' (then ''Emmerdale Farm'') from 1972 to 1973, in which she also spoke the programme's first line of dialogue in the inaugural episode. Early life Kendall was born Josephine Mary Robinson in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, on 17 February 1940. After leaving Leicester she trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and gained her Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM). Arthur Hewlett
Arthur Hewlett (12 March 1907 in Southampton, Hampshire – 25 February 1997 in London) was a British actor. Hewlett made his stage debut in 1930 at Plymouth Rep, and his theatre work included the original British production of Bernard Shaw's ''Buoyant Billions'' at the Malvern Festival in 1949. Madeleine Angela Clinton-Baddeley, CBE (4 July 1904 – 22 February 1976) was an English stage and television actress, best-remembered for her role as household cook Mrs. Bridges in the period drama '' Upstairs, Downstairs''. David Collings (4 June 1940 – 23 March 2020) was an English actor. In an extensive career he appeared in many roles on stage, television, film and radio, as well as various audio books, voiceovers, concert readings and other work.
