Sindhu Venkatanarayanan (born 19 June 1969) is an Indian actress and stand-up comedian who lives and performs in the United Kingdom under the name of Sindhu Vee. She starred as Mrs Phelps in the 2022 Netflix adaptation of ''Matilda the Musical''. Early life She was born in New Delhi, India, the daughter of a civil servant father and teacher mother. She has lived in Delhi, Lucknow and the Philippines. She studied at the University of Delhi, University of Oxford, University of Chicago and McGill University, and worked in banking as a "high-flying bonds tradeswoman" in London. BBC New Comedy Award
The BBC New Comedy Award first took place in 1995, and it is considered to be one of the top UK comedy newcomer awards. It was axed in 2006, being replaced by a nationwide talent hunt that places its emphasis on sketch writing and filmed performance. However, in March 2011 thBBC Radio New Comedy Awardwas relaunched in conjunction with BBC Radio 2, and ran as a joint project between Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 Extra. ''The Unbelievable Truth'' is a BBC radio comedy panel game devised by Graeme Garden and Jon Naismith. ''Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled '' is a British television programme that was first broadcast on Dave and hosted by comedian Alan Davies. In each episode Davies holds an unscripted roundtable discussion with four guests. The guests include stand-up comedians, comedy writers and other well-known figures in the entertainment industry. ''Richard Osman's House of Games'' is a British quiz show produced by Banijay (owners of Endemol Shine UK), a branch of Remarkable Television for the BBC. The show is hosted by Richard Osman. It is played on a weekly basis, with four "celebrities" playing on five consecutive days to win daily prizes, and the weekly prize of being crowned as "House of Games" champion. Points are accrued depending on where each celebrity finishes on each day and the points are doubled on Friday's show.
