Simon Tahamata
Simon Melkianus Tahamata (born 26 May 1956) is a Dutch-Moluccan Association football, football coach and former professional player who played for Dutch and Belgian clubs. He also played 22 times for the Netherlands national football team, Dutch national team, scoring twice. Tahamata was born in the Netherlands, but took Belgian nationality law, Belgian nationality in 1990. International career Tahamata made his national team debut on 22 May 1979 in Bern, Switzerland in the 75th Anniversary Match of the FIFA against Argentina national football team, Argentina. Managerial career After his career as a professional football player Tahamata went on to work as a youth coach for Standard Liège, Germinal Beerschot and Ajax Amsterdam. Occasionally he also played for the team of old Ajax players, named Lucky Ajax. The Belgian Cup is a knockout competition for football clubs in Belgian football, organized by the Royal Belgian Football Association. It was first unofficially organized in 1908 as a tournament between teams representing the various Provinces of Belgium, with players from the various clubs reallocated into teams based on their province of origin, with the team representing West Flanders defeating the Antwerp team in the first edition final. The Belgian Cup (french: link=no, Coupe de Belgique; nl, Beker van België []; german: link=no, Belgischer Fußballpokal) is the main Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in Belgium, run by the Belgian Football Association, Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup". Starting from 1912 only actual clubs were allowed to partake. The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 18 clubs since the 2020–21 season and reduced to 16 teams from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League. The 61st edition of the KNVB Cup started on August 19, 1978. The first final was played on May 15, 1979: the match Ajax – FC Twente ended a draw: 1–1 (after extra time). Instead of a penalty shootout, a replay was held on May 29. In that match, Ajax beat FC Twente 3–0 and won the cup for the eighth time. The KNVB Beker (; en, KNVB Cup), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup.
