Simon Fraser (civil Servant)
Sir Simon James Fraser (born 3 June 1958) is a British former diplomat who served as the Permanent Under-Secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from August 2010 to July 2015, having served as Permanent Secretary of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills from May 2009 to August 2010. Sir Simon is a Trustee of the Patchwork Foundation, founded by Harris Bokhari. Sir Simon is currently Deputy Chairman of Chatham House and serves as Adviser to the Europe Programme. He is also Managing Partner of Flint Global. Early life Fraser was educated at St Paul's School, London, and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he gained an MA in Classics. Diplomatic career Before going to the Business Department, Fraser's career had centred on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Julian King (diplomat)
Sir Julian Beresford King (born 22 August 1964) is a British diplomat and civil servant who served as the final British European Commissioner from 2016 to 2019, having previously served as the British ambassador to Ireland (2009–2012) and France (2016). Education King attended Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, one of the oldest schools in Britain, in Sutton Coldfield. He gained a BA in Philosophy and Theology from St Peter's College, Oxford. He also studied at the in Paris where he met his future wife. Career He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1985. 2016 New Year Honours
The New Year Honours 2016 were appointments by some of the 16 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. The New Year Honours are awarded as part of the New Year celebrations at the start of January. Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network
The Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network is an employer-led body sponsored by the Skills Funding Agency in England. Its remit is to encourage more employers to become involved in apprenticeships in England. The Network is the successor body to the Apprenticeship Task Force established by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. David Meller, of the Meller Group, was Chair from 2014 - 2018 followed by Jason Holt CBE of the Holts Group of Companies from 2018 to 2022. The previous Chairman was Sir Roy Gardner, Chairman of Compass Group Plc. Directgov was the British government's digital service for people in the United Kingdom, which from 2004 provided a single point of access to public sector information and services. The site's portal was replaced (along with the Business Link portal) by the new GOV.UK website on 17 October 2012, although migration of all services to GOV.UK branding took several years.
