Simon Fraser, Master Of Lovat
Simon Augustine Fraser, Master of Lovat (28 August 1939 – 26 March 1994) was the son of 15th Lord Lovat and the former Rosamond Broughton. He predeceased his father, and his son Simon inherited the Lordship of Lovat in 1995. He died of a heart attack while hunting on his (then) estate at Beaufort Castle. Life During his life, the Master of Lovat accumulated an estimated seven million pounds sterling (£7,000,000) in debts. As a result, upon his father's death in 1995, the family estate of Beaufort Castle was sold, for around £2,000,000. His son, the 16th Lord Lovat, has voiced his determination to buy it back. Fraser spent around three years as a lieutenant in the Scots Guards, mostly overseas. He had business interests in salmon aquaculture and smoking salmon in New Hampshire and Maine, USA and Scotland. Brigadier Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat, 4th Baron Lovat, (9 July 1911 – 16 March 1995) was a prominent British Commando during the Second World War and the 25th Chief of the Clan Fraser of Lovat. Known familiarly as Shimi Lovat, an anglicised version of his name in Scottish Gaelic; his clan referred to him as MacShimidh, his Gaelic patronym. During Operation Overlord, he led the Special Service Brigade at Sword Beach and to successfully capture Pegasus Bridge, famously accompanied by his piper, Bill Millin. Winston Churchill described Lovat as 'the handsomest man to slit a throat', being a renowned and feared military leader. Indeed, Hitler supposedly placed a bounty of 100,000 marks on his head, dead or alive in 1944. Beaufort Castle, Scotland
Beaufort Castle or Castle Dounie ( gd, Caisteal Dhùnaidh) is a Baronial style mansion built in 1880 and incorporating older building work. It is situated on the right bank of the River Beauly near the town of Beauly in Inverness-shire and is north of Kiltarlity and west of Inverness. There has been a castle on the site since the 12th century. Beaufort is the traditional seat of the Lords Lovat. History The earliest mention of the site, as Downie or Dounie Castle, occurs in the reign of Alexander I (1106–1124), when a siege took place. The original castle was built by the Byset family. Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 16th Lord Lovat and 5th Baron Lovat (born 13 February 1977) has been the chief of Clan Fraser of Lovat since the death of his grandfather in 1995. Daniele Varè (12 January 1880 – 27 February 1956) was an Italian expatriate diplomat and author, most famous for the China-set novel ''The Maker of Heavenly Trousers'' (republished in 2012 by Penguin Modern Classics). He is also remembered for the ''Laughing Diplomat'' ( John Murray, 1938), his autobiography as Italian diplomat. Honor Fraser (born 1973) is a Scottish art dealer in California and a former fashion model. She is the sister of Simon Fraser, 16th Lord Lovat and chief of Clan Fraser of Lovat, and the granddaughter of British Commando Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat. She was brought up at the family seat Beaufort Castle in Scotland. She left St. Mary's School, Calne with three A Levels. After school she began an internship at British ''Vogue'', where it was suggested that she try modelling.
