Simon Nathan Clarke (born 23 September 1971) is an English former footballer who played, as a left midfielder. Career Clarke was a product of West Ham United's youth system. He played for Chelmsford Schools before signing for West Ham, playing for their youth and reserve teams. He was limited to three substitute appearances for West Ham, his debut coming in the last minute of an away win against Watford in January 1991. He was to make only two further appearances for ''The Hammers'' before joining Kettering Town on loan in December 1992. He was released by West Ham in May 1993. Following his release by West Ham, Clarke dropped into Non-League football, re-signing for former club Kettering in the summer of 1993, becoming a "regular goalscorer" during his second spell at the club. In 1995, after two years at Kettering, Clarke joined Hendon, making his debut in a 2–0 loss against rivals Enfield in the Isthmian League. Simon Richard Clarke (born 28 September 1984) is a British politician who served as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities from September to October 2022 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2021 to 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland since 2017. Following Boris Johnson's appointment as Prime Minister, Clarke was appointed Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. He served as Minister of State for Regional Growth and Local Government from February to September 2020. Simon Clarke (born 18 July 1986) is an Australian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He previously rode for the (2011) and (2012–2015) teams in the UCI World Tour. Before turning professional, Clarke competed in track cycling as an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. He is not related to fellow Australian cyclist and past teammate Will Clarke. Simon Clarke (rugby Union)
Simon John Scott Clarke (2 April 1938 – 12 October 2017) was an English rugby union footballer who played internationally for England. He also played first-class cricket. Clarke, a scrum-half, made his Test debut in the 1963 Five Nations Championship. He appeared in all four fixtures, to help England claim their 17th title. Soon after, he took part in England's 1963 tour of Australasia. He played two Tests against New Zealand and one against Australia in Sydney, scoring the only try of his career in the latter. The following year, New Zealand toured England and Clarke played a Test against the All Blacks at Twickenham. He played the remaining five Tests of his career during both the 1964 and 1965 Five Nations Championships. Clarke Baronets
There have been five baronetcies created for persons with the surname Clarke (as distinct from Clark, Clerk and Clerke), two in the Baronetage of England and three in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Two of the creations are extant as of 2010. The Clarke Baronetcy, of Salford Shirland in the County of Warwick, was created in the Baronetage of England on 1 May 1617 for Simon Clarke. He later supported the Royalist cause during the Civil War. The fifth Baronet was convicted of highway robbery. He managed to escape the death penalty but was deported to Jamaica. The 6th baronet owned slaves and a plantation in Jamaica. Simon Clarke (26 March 1946 - 27 December 2022) was a British sociologist specialising in social theory, political economy, labour relations, and the history of sociology. He had a particular interest in employment relations in China, Vietnam, and the former-Soviet nations. He was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Warwick. Biography Simon Clarke was born in London, the son of writer Tom Clarke. He was educated at The Hall and Bryanston School. He studied economics at Clare College, Cambridge, graduating with a first class degree in 1967. Sir Simon Haughton Clarke, 9th Baronet
Sir Simon Haughton Clarke, 9th Baronet (1764–1832) was a West Indies merchant, said to be the seventh richest man in England. He had a notable collection of paintings at his mansion at Oakhill. His estate, bought in 1821, ran from Chase Side, Southgate to High Road, Whetstone. After his death, his widow and sons lived at Oakhill until 1857 when the estate was broken up. He is remembered in a monument at St Mary the Virgin churchyard in East Barnet, originally visible from Oakhill house. Family Clarke had at least two sons with his wife, both of whom were baronets. Simon Toulson-Clarke is the English lead singer and a founder member of the 1980s/1990s pop group Red Box.
