Simon Bryant (born 14 February 1965, Exeter, Devon, England) is an Australian chef. Bryant featured alongside South Australian Maggie Beer on the ABC program ''The Cook and the Chef''. The show aired more than 150 episodes over four years, attracting more than 600,000 viewers nationally per week. Bryant was with Hilton Adelaide for more than 10 years, commencing as a Commis Chef, followed by 18 months as a Chef de Partie in 'The Grange' with Cheong Liew Cheong Liew (born 1949) is a Malaysian-born Australian chef. ''The Cook and the Chef'' is an Australian television series featuring cook Maggie Beer and chef Simon Bryant. ''The Cook and the Chef'' was screened on ABC1 and was filmed in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, with the first episode going to air on February 8, 2006. In July 2009, Maggie and Simon announced they had decided to end the series after four years. The finale aired on 16 September 2009 with "Party" as the theme of the episode. Exeter
Exeter () is a city in Devon, South West England. It is situated on the River Exe, approximately northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol. Maggie Beer (born Margaret Anne Ackerman, 19 January 1945) is an Australian chef, food author, restaurateur, and food manufacturer. Beer is one of the judges on ''The Great Australian Bake Off'' alongside Matt Moran and is also a regular guest on '' MasterChef Australia''. Early life Maggie Beer was born in Sydney in January 1945, to Ronald Ackerman, whose German ancestry was from his paternal grandparents, and Doreen Carter, who had English ancestry from her maternal great-grandparents. Her father's ancestors lived in Hill End located in regional New South Wales and were gold miners. Beer believed they were Jewish, but this was refuted in an episode of '' Who Do You Think You Are?'', as it emerged that her ancestors had been Catholic for as long as there were records. Cheong Liew
Cheong Liew (born 1949) is a Malaysian-born Australian chef. He moved from Malaysia to Australia in 1969 to study electrical engineering, but instead became a chef. Early life Cheong Liew was born in 1949 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His father was a farmer who also owned several restaurants. Following the 13 May incident, Liew's family emigrated to Adelaide, South Australia. In Adelaide, Liew's passion for cooking was ignited while he tended the grill part-time at the Greek restaurant Iliad in Whitmore Square. Although he had planned to study electrical engineering in Melbourne, he eventually decided to become a self-taught chef. Career In 1975, Liew opened his own restaurant ''Neddy's'', whose menu consisted of mostly Malaysian and Chinese dishes. His cooking incorporated ingredients not commonly used during his time, such as crocodile tail, pork leg, sea urchin and shark lip.
