Carrie Obendorfer Simon
Carrie Simon (March 5, 1872 – March 3, 1961) was a Jewish-American communal leader from Washington, D.C. Life Simon was born on March 5, 1872, in Uniontown, Alabama, the daughter of Leo William Obendorfer and Mary Wise. A few years after her birth, she moved with her family to Cincinnati, Ohio, where her father began a successful jewelry business and her mother founded a local chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) in 1895. Simon graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She also served as section secretary of the NCJW chapter her mother founded, which made her aware of new possibilities that were opening for Jewish women in public life. Following her marriage to Rabbi Abram Simon, she went with her husband when he became a rabbi in Sacramento, California, in 1896, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1899, and Washington, D.C., in 1904. Richard Raymond Simon (born September 21, 1933) is retired American auto racing driver and racing team owner. Simon drove Indy cars in USAC and CART, and made 17 starts at the Indianapolis 500. At the 1988 Indianapolis 500, Simon set a record as the oldest driver in Indy 500 history (54 years, 251 days), a record that was later broken by A. J. Foyt. Simon was a longtime car owner, founding Dick Simon Racing, helping to begin the Indy car careers of Stéphan Grégoire, Arie Luyendyk, Raul Boesel, Lyn St. James, and many others. Dean Simon (born August 4, 1960), better known by the ring name Dean Malenko, is an American retired professional wrestler. He is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a senior producer. He is best known for his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). David Simon (born August 9, 1982) is an American professional basketball player. He also played his collegiate basketball for IPFW. College career In his first year as a college player, he averaged 10.6 points per game and 5.8 rebounds. At the end of the year he injured his left knee and went for surgery, but fully recovered for the next season. Before the second season at IPFW, he was ranked as the nation's second-best college center, behind Emeka Okafor of Connecticut. Also, he was named "Pre-Season Independent Player of the Year". Simon was also an All-American Candidate. He declared him eligible for the 2004 NBA draft without agent, but tore the ACL on his right knee during the Chicago Pre-Draft Camp and withdrew his name from the early entries into the draft and returned to school.
