Alastair Sim
Alastair George Bell Sim, CBE (9 October 1900 – 19 August 1976) was a Scottish character actor who began his theatrical career at the age of thirty and quickly became established as a popular West End performer, remaining so until his death in 1976. Starting in 1935, he also appeared in more than fifty British films, including an iconic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novella '' A Christmas Carol'', released in 1951 as ''Scrooge'' in Great Britain and as ''A Christmas Carol'' in the United States. Though an accomplished dramatic actor, he is often remembered for his comically sinister performances. After a series of false starts, including a spell as a jobbing labourer and another as a clerk in a local government office, Sim's love of and talent for poetry reading won him several prizes and led to his appointment as a lecturer in elocution at the University of Edinburgh in 1925. George Hamilton Sim
Colonel George Hamilton Sim (19 November 1852 – 27 December 1929) was a British Army officer who served with the Royal Engineers in various campaigns in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In his youth, he was a keen amateur sportsman and played association football for the Royal Engineers, being on the winning side in the 1875 FA Cup Final. Family and education Sim was born on 19 November 1852 at Paddington, London, the second son of Alexander Sim (1820–1885), a timber broker. Sim's mother, Agnes (1827–1909) was the daughter of Archibald Billing, a doctor and author. He was baptised on 23 March 1853 at St James's Church, Paddington. Two of Sim's uncles, Edward Coysgarne Sim (1838–1900) and Charles Alexander Sim (1839–1897) served with the Royal Engineers, both reaching the rank of major-general. Chea Sim ( km, ជា ស៊ីម; 15 November 19328 June 2015) was a Cambodian politician. He was President of the Cambodian People's Party from 1991 to 2015, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia from 1981 to 1998 (Vice President from June to October 1993) and President of the Senate from 1999 to 2015. Dave Sim (born 17 May 1956) is a Canadian cartoonist and publisher, best known for his comic book ''Cerebus'', his artistic experimentation, his advocacy of self-publishing and creators' rights, and his controversial political and philosophical beliefs. Sim rose to prominence with ''Cerebus'', which began in December 1977. Sim initially conceived it as a parody of ''Conan the Barbarian'' and other sword and sorcery comics, but after two years he began to consider the series a self-contained work that would run for 300 issues and be subdivided into " novels". By the time the 6000-page work was completed in March 2004, Sim had delved into politics and a controversial examination of feminism and gender, while becoming progressively more sophisticated and experimental in his storytelling and artwork. Jonathan Sim (born September 29, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the third round (70th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career As a veteran journeyman of the National Hockey League, Sim moved to play his first full professional season in Europe in 2011–12. After an unsuccessful stint in the Czech Extraliga, Sim was signed by Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, where he helped contribute to the team's 6th league championship. On his return to North America and the 2012–13 NHL lockout negating his chance of a NHL contract, Sim was signed to a professional try-out deal with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL on December 7, 2012. Thomas Robertson Sim (25 June 1858 in Northfield, Aberdeenshire, Scotland – 23 July 1938 in Durban, Natal) was a botanist, bryologist, botanical artist and Conservator of Forests in Natal, best known for his monumental work ''The Forests and Forest Flora of the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope'' which appeared in 1907. He was the eldest of five children of John Sim (1824–1901), a noted Bryology, bryologist and Isabella Thomson Robertson (1823-). Sir William Alexander Sim (13 September 1858 – 29 August 1928) was a New Zealand lawyer and judge. He was born in Wanganui, New Zealand, and died in Wellington. Wilfrid Sim was his son.
