Silvia Tortora
Silvia Tortora (14 November 1962 – 10 January 2022) was an Italian journalist. Career Tortora was the daughter of journalist and TV presenter Enzo Tortora and his second wife Miranda Fantacci and the elder sister of Gaia Tortora. Starting in 1985, she collaborated with Giovanni Minoli at Mixer and from 2004, she collaborated on the program La storia siamo noi, again with Minoli. She worked on the weekly magazine Epoca from 1988 to 1997. In 1999, she won the silver ribbon at the Taormina Film Fest as "best cinematographic subject" with the film ''A Respectable Man'' by Maurizio Zaccaro. In 2002, she edited the book Cara Silvia, published by Marsilio Editori and in 2006, she published Bambini cattivi, also published by Marsilio Editori. Giampaolo Pansa
Giampaolo Pansa (1 October 1935 – 12 January 2020) was an Italian journalist-commentator and, especially during his late years, a prolific author of books and essays. Most of his writings was rooted in recent or contemporary history, notably with regard to the antifascist resistance of the Mussolini years. Biography Provenance and early years Giampaolo Pansa was born and raised in Casale Monferrato, an industrial town by the Po river and located in the Province of Alessandria. His father Ernesto, the fifth of six children, grew up in poverty. Since Ernesto Pansa was the last child to leave home and marry, his widowed mother moved to his home. The young Giampaolo developed a close relationship with his grandmother, born Caterina Zaffiro in 1869 in the little village of Caresana, which is located north of the Po river. Andrea Calogero Camilleri (; 6 September 1925 – 17 July 2019) was an Italian writer. Biography Originally from Porto Empedocle, Girgenti, Sicily, Camilleri began university studies in the Faculty of Literature at the University of Palermo, but did not complete his degree; during that time he published poems and short stories. From 1948 to 1950 he studied stage and film direction at the Silvio D'Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts (Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica) and began to take on work as a director and screenwriter, directing especially plays by Pirandello and Beckett. Umberto Veronesi (; 28 November 1925 – 8 November 2016) was an Italian oncologist, physician, scientist and politician, internationally known for his contributions on prevention and treatment of breast cancer throughout a career spanning over fifty years. Early life and education Veronesi was born in Milan. He obtained his degree in medicine from the University of Milan in 1952, and dedicated his professional life to the study and treatment of cancer.
