Fred Silverman (September 13, 1937 – January 30, 2020) was an American television executive and producer. He worked as an executive at all of the Big Three television networks, and was responsible for bringing to television such programs as ''Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!'' (the original incarnation of the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise, 1969–1970), ''All in the Family'' (1971–1979), ''The Waltons'' (1972–1981), and '' Charlie's Angels'' (1976–1981), as well as the miniseries '' Rich Man, Poor Man'' (1976), ''Roots'' (1977), and ''Shōgun'' (1980). For his success in programming such successful shows, ''Time'' magazine declared him "The Man with the Golden Gut" in 1977. Benjamin Noah Silverman (born August 15, 1970) is an American media executive. He is the co-CEO and chairman of the entertainment production company Propagate. From 2007–2009, Silverman served as co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. Joy Silverman (born April 8, 1947) is an American socialite and Republican Party operative and fundraiser. Early life and education Silverman was born Joy Fererh on April 8, 1947, the daughter of Jeanette (née Rothenberg) and Ben Fererh. In 1951, her parents divorced and in 1955, she moved to Great Neck, New York with her mother's new husband, Marc Germont. She attended elementary school in Great Neck and also took Hebrew language, Hebrew classes at Temple Israel. She has one half-brother from her mother's second marriage, composer Bruce Wolosoff. Germont died of leukimia when Silverman was 12 and her mother married wealthy Long Island real estate developer Alvin Bibbs Wolosoff for whom she worked as a secretary. He was made Member of the Order of Canada in 2013. In 1998 he became the inaugural recipient of the Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award of the Ontario Arts Foundation. His widely acclaimed 10-CD recording of all thirty-two Beethoven sonatas was short-listed for a Juno Award for Best Classical Album: Solo or Chamber Ensemble. Ken Silverman (born November 1, 1975) is an American game programmer, best known for writing the Build engine. It was most notably utilized by ''Duke Nukem 3D'', ''Shadow Warrior'', ''Blood'', and more than a dozen other games in the mid- to late-1990s. Once considered the primary rival of John Carmack (later succeeded by Tim Sweeney), Silverman started work on the Build engine sometime before his first semester at Brown University in 1993, under a contract with Apogee Software. In the wake of ''Duke Nukem 3D'' and other Build engine games, Silverman left the commercial game industry. Silverman has been CTO and co-founder of Ardfry Imaging, LLC responsible for the PNG Compression tool PNGOUT. Ben Silverman (born November 15, 1987) is a Canadian professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour. In 2017 he won the Price Cutter Charity Championship. Early and personal life Silverman was born in Thornhill, Ontario, in Canada, to Howard and Maureen Silverman, and is Jewish. He played golf at Vaughan Secondary School in Vaughan, Ontario. Silverman attended Johnson & Wales University in Florida for two years, and then Florida Atlantic University, where Silverman obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2010. Joseph Silverman (August 25, 1860 in Ohio – July 26, 1930 in New York City), was a leading American Reform rabbi and author. He was the first American born rabbi to serve in New York City. Born in Cincinnati, he attended the University of Cincinnati and received a Doctor of Divinity from the Hebrew Union College in 1887, from which he received his rabbinic ordination three years earlier. In 1887, he married and subsequently had five children with his wife Henrietta. He was Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El, Dallas, Texas, September 1884 to June 1885; rabbi of Congregation B'nai Israel, Galveston, Texas July, 1885 to February 20, 1888. His television journalism career began in 1974 as a reporter for Global Television Network's first years. Abraham George Silverman was a mathematician and statistician who was a member of the Soviet Ware Group. Biography Silverman graduated from Harvard University. In the early days of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal, he worked for the Railroad Retirement Board in Washington, D.C., as director of research. From there he found employment in the Federal Coordinator of Transport, the United States Tariff Commission and the Labor Advisory Board of the National Recovery Administration.
