Silverdale, New South Wales
Silverdale is a small town in New South Wales, Australia, in Wollondilly Shire. Approximately 30 minutes from the city of Camden, Silverdale is close to the historic township of Warragamba, and the main water supply for Sydney, Warragamba Dam. The town's development increased with the construction of the dam. Silverdale is remarkably isolated from the increasing urbanisation of the Penrith City area, although the new housing estates are an example of increasing development in the area. Education The local primary school is Warragamba Public School and Holy Family Primary school in Luddenham. The Fort Riley Limestone is a Kansas Permian stratigraphic unit of member rank and historic building stone, sold commercially as fine-grained Silverdale, having at one time been quarried at Silverdale, Kansas. This limestone outcrops in east-central Kansas, extending into northeast-central Oklahoma and southeastern Nebraska, in the Midwestern United States. Silverdale is an unincorporated community in Silverdale Township, Cowley County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 61. History The post office was established June 5, 1871, and temporarily closed October 19, 1883 before being reopened December 12, 1883. It was permanently closed on July 31, 1964. In 1912, Silverdale was described as a hamlet with a hotel, general store, bank, and other businesses, and in 1910 the population was 100. Today only a church and limestone quarry remain with perhaps a dozen residences. The quarry specialized in fine cut, quality limestone. Silverdale, Staffordshire
Silverdale is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, west of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It is a self contained ward of Newcastle Borough Council returning 2 Councillors. Historically, the village was dominated by the coal industry and records indicate coal was mined in the area as long ago as the 13th century. The last colliery, Silverdale Colliery, closed in 1998. Silverdale Colliery The main employer in Silverdale for well over 100 years was Silverdale Colliery, also known locally as Kent's Lane. The first shafts were sunk in the 1830s and the colliery initially mined ironstone as well as coal. The main user of both the minerals was the nearby Silverdale Forge. The colliery was completely rebuilt during the 1970s when three new drifts were sunk to exploit new reserves in the Keele area.
