Sielce
Sielce (Polish pronunciation: ) is a neighborhood in Mokotów district of Warsaw, Poland. Sielce is roughly bounded on the North by Podchorążych Street, the East by Czerniakowska Street, the South by Beethhovena Street, and the West by Sobieskiego Street. Its northwest corner adjoins the Royal Baths Park, also known as Park Łazienkowski, on the southwest side, with two entrances to the park (one from Gagarina Street, and one on Podchorążych). History In 1412, Duke Janusz I gave the dean of the chapter collegiate St. John a portion of land lying in the north of Siedlce (Sielce). It became the property of the church and survived until confiscation by the Prussian government during the Third Partition of Poland in 1795. A small-sized village (5 fiefs in 1528) together with Czerniakow and Czarnów once constituted a whole. Mokotów
Mokotów , is a ''dzielnica'' (borough, district) of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Mokotów is densely populated, and is a seat to many foreign embassies and companies. Only a small part of the district is lightly industrialised (''Służewiec Przemysłowy''), while the majority is full of parks and green areas (Mokotów Field). Although the area has been populated at least since the early Middle Ages, it was not until early 1916 when Mokotów was incorporated into Warsaw. The name of the area, first appearing as the village of Mokotowo in documents from the year 1367, has unclear origins. It is hypothesised to have come from the name of a German owner of the village, who called himself Mokoto or Mokot, however no exact reference to such an individual can be found in the historical records. Warsaw Uprising
The Warsaw Uprising ( pl, powstanie warszawskie; german: Warschauer Aufstand) was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance movement in World War II, Polish underground resistance to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. It occurred in the summer of 1944, and it was led by the Polish resistance Home Army ( pl, Armia Krajowa). The uprising was timed to coincide with the retreat of the German forces from Poland ahead of the Soviet advance. While approaching the eastern suburbs of the city, the Red Army temporarily halted combat operations, enabling the Germans to regroup and defeat the Polish resistance and to Planned destruction of Warsaw, destroy the city in retaliation. Hans Hartwig von Beseler (27 April 1850 – 20 December 1921) was a German colonel general. Biography Beseler was born in Greifswald, Province of Pomerania (1815–1945), Pomerania. His father Georg Beseler, was a law professor at the University of Greifswald. He entered the Prussian Army in 1868, fought in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 and had a successful military career until his retirement in 1910. Beseler was ennobled in 1904 by William II, German Emperor. At the outbreak of World War I in 1914 Beseler was brought out of retirement and was given command of the III Reserve Corps (German Empire), 3rd Reserve Corps in the German 1st Army (German Empire), First Army led by Generaloberst Alexander von Kluck. Joanna Grudzińska (17 May 1791, Poznań - 17 November 1831, Tsarskoye Selo) was a Polish noble, a Princess of Łowicz and the second wife of Grand Duke Constantine Pavlovich of Russia, the ''de facto'' viceroy of the Kingdom of Poland. This marriage cost Constantine the crown of Russia.
