Amy Pharaoh (born 20 March 1979 in Grimsby), also known as Amy Gowshall and Amy Monkhouse, is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Personal life In August 2002, she married and became Amy Monkhouse. She has since reverted to her birth name of Amy Gowshall but then remarried in 2022 to become Amy Pharaoh. Career Gowshall won a bronze medal in the Women's pairs at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. In 2004, she won the gold medal in the fours with Jayne Christie, Jean Baker and Ellen Falkner at the 2004 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. She won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games before representing England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games where she won, with Ellen Falkner, a gold medal in the woman's pairs competition. World Indoor Bowls Championships
The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annual at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea. The last week of the competition is televised live on BBC where the open singles and open pairs', women's singles and mixed pairs' finals are shown. History The competition was first held in 1979 in Coatbridge, Scotland as a men's singles only event. The first event was sponsored by Embassy Cigarettes. In 1986, the men's pairs competition was added to the championship. In 1988, a rule change allowed women to compete for the first time and the women's singles competition was created. This rule change also changed expanded the men's singles and pairs competition and both become open tournaments. In 1989, the championships moved to the Guild Hall in Preston, England And Churchill Insurance took over the sponsorship. Natalie Melmore
Natalie Melmore (married name Natalie Chestney, born 28 July 1989 in Torquay) is a lawn bowler from Newton Abbot. Bowls career Natalie represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold medal in the women's singles event. In 2011 she won the singles and triples silver medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. Natalie went on to win a further two silver medals in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the women's singles and women's pairs events with partner Jamie-Lea Winch. In 2016 she secured a fourth and fifth National title win and in 2018 was part of the fours that won the National Championships. After her 2014 singles success she subsequently won the singles at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 2015. 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. Postponement The event followed suit of other sporting events around the world in early 2020, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak wreaking havoc across the sporting industry. Katherine Rednall (born 7 January 1996) is an English lawn and indoor bowler from Stowmarket. She is record five times women's world indoor singles champion. Bowls career Indoors Rednall became the youngest ever winner of a World Indoor Bowls title after she won the 2014 World Indoor Bowls Championship Women's Singles at the age of just 18. Rednall reached the final of the 2015 World Indoor Bowls Championship losing out to Laura Thomas in the decider. Rednall experienced further success after winning the Mixed Pairs title in 2016 with bowls partner Darren Burnett.
