Shy, Low
Shy, Low is an American post-rock and post-metal band from Richmond, Virginia, United States, signed to Pelagic Records (The Ocean, MONO, Envy). The band's current line up consists of Zak Bryant (guitar), Gregg Peterson (guitar), Drew Storcks (bass) and Dylan Partridge (drums). History The band was formed in January 2011 after the breakup of the metal inspired group Vessel. After spending several months writing during the winter of 2011, Shy, Low recorded their six-song debut with Allen Bergendahl of Viking Recording in May 2011 in Richmond, Virginia. Upon the completion of the album's recording, the band embarked on their first tour. In September 2011, Shy, Low was signed by indie music label Fluttery Records that released the band's debut self-titled album on January 20, 2012. On May 22, 2013, it was announced that Shy, Low had signed with Seattle-based record label, Spartan Records. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Spartan Records
Spartan Records was founded by John T. Frazier in Seattle, Washington in January 2007. It is currently home to the bands Schematic, Barren Womb, Ourlives, Shy, Low, and several others. Prior to founding Spartan, Frazier was the director of marketing at several preeminent independent record labels including Tooth and Nail Records, Solid State Records, and Drive-Thru Records. The label has been a full-time operation since January 2013. Spartan Records is known for its creative pressing of colored vinyl variants. Background Formation John T.
