Shukla
Shukla ( sa, शुक्ल) is a word of Sanskrit origin that means "bright" or "white". Similar to what goes for Shukla Paksha (शुक्लपक्ष) bright moonlight during waxing phase. Today it is a surname used by Brahmins in North India. Traditionally, people with Shukla surname have been found in the North Indian states and the Gangetic Plains, although significant numbers are present in other parts of the country as well. Balram Shukla
Balram Shukla ( hi, बलराम शुक्ल; born 19 January 1982) is an academician, poet and author based in New Delhi. He is a self-taught scholar of Sanskrit and Indian literature. He works as a professor of Sanskrit at the University of Delhi. He is a scholar of Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Persian and Prakrit. He writes poetry in both Sanskrit and Persian, and also translates Persian poetry into Sanskrit using the same poetic metres. He has been awarded the Badrayan Vyas Award for Sanskrit in 2013 by the President of India. He has authored eight books. Life Shukla hails from Sohrauna Raja village in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. Jagadish Shukla (born 1944) is an Indian meteorologist and Distinguished University Professor at George Mason University in the United States. Early years Shukla was born in 1944 in the village of Middha in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, India. This village had no electricity, no roads or transportation, and no primary school building. Most of his primary school education was received under a large banyan tree. He passed from the S.R.S. High School, Sheopur, in the first class with distinction in Mathematics and Sanskrit. He studied science, firstly outside school, then at S.C. College, Ballia. Anand Shukla (15 January 1941 – 2 February 2015) was an Indian cricketer who played first-class cricket for a number of teams in India from 1960 to 1978. Playing career For Uttar Pradesh In his third first-class match in his debut season of 1959–60, Shukla took 7 for 91 against Vidarbha. In 1961–62, against Rajasthan, he took 7 for 43 and 3 for 87, and made 168 not out, taking Uttar Pradesh's score from 88 for 6 when he went to the wicket to 356 all out. Avay Shukla is a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), an environmentalist, and a writer. Deepak Shukla (born in India) is an American molecular virologist with expertise in herpesviruses. He contributed to the discovery of HSV-1 entry receptors and establishing a link between the receptors and HSV-1 induced ocular diseases such as keratitis and retinitis. Champa Devi Shukla is an Indian activist from Bhopal. She was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2004, together with Rashida Bee. Shukla and Bee have struggled for justice for those who survived the 1984 Bhopal disaster, when 20,000 people were killed, and organized campaigns and trials against the responsible company and its owners.
