Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London (Harrow)
Shri Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple (Harrow) is a Swaminarayan Temple in the London Borough of Harrow. When opened in 1976, the temple was originally located at Vaughan Road, West Harrow. It was moved to the Kenton area of Harrow in 1996 to accommodate the growing congregation. The temple comes under the NarNarayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. Temple activities * A nursery for young children - Ghanshyam Nursery * Gujarati language classes * Hinduism classes * A day care centre for the elderly. Tony McNulty
Anthony James "Tony" McNulty (born 3 November 1958) is a British politician who was the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for Harrow East from 1997 to 2010. During his ministerial career, which began in 2003, he was Minister for London and later Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform at the Department for Work and Pensions. He resigned his position on 5 June 2009 after allegations in the press regarding his expenses. The Swaminarayan Sampradaya, also known as Swaminarayan Hinduism and Swaminarayan movement, is a Hindu Vaishnava sampradaya rooted in Ramanuja's Vishishtadvaita, characterized by the worship of its charismatic founder Sahajanand Swami, better known as Swaminarayan (1781–1830), as an avatar of Krishna or as the highest manifestation of Purushottam, the supreme God. Harrow Civic Centre is a municipal building in Station Road, Harrow, London. It is the headquarters of Harrow London Borough Council. History The local board of health for Harrow on the Hill was initially based at 49 High Street and then, from 1888, at 90 High Street. Following a significant increase in population, largely associated with the growing importance of the area as a residential suburb of London, the area became an urban district in 1894. Navin Shah
Navin Fakirchand Shah (born September 1946) is a British Labour Party politician. Shah moved to the United Kingdom in 1973 to study at University College London. He joined the Labour Party in 1977 and was elected to Harrow London Borough Council as a councillor for Kenton East Ward in 1994. Shah was Leader of Harrow Council from 2004 to 2006, and remained the Harrow Labour Group Leader until June 2008. He was elected as a member of the London Assembly at the 2008 assembly elections, taking the constituency seat of Brent and Harrow, beating Conservative incumbent Bob Blackman. Lurline Champagnie OBE, (born 1935/1936 in Jamaica), became the first black woman to stand as a parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom in March 1992. She was a Mayor in the London Borough of Harrow, and a councillor for the Pinner ward, being the first black person to hold these positions. Biography Born in Jamaica, Champagnie emigrated to Britain in 1956. She was first employed in London as a punch operator. She trained as a nurse at Mount Vernon Hospital, including time in the burns and plastic surgery unit. Gareth Richard Thomas (born 15 July 1967) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Harrow West since 1997. An earthquake and a tsunami, known as the Boxing Day Tsunami and, by the scientific community, the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake, occurred at 07:58:53 local time (UTC+7) on 26 December 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The London Borough of Harrow () is a London borough in northwest London, England; it forms part of Outer London.
