''Firearms News'', formerly ''Shotgun News'', is an American shooting and firearms interest publication owned by Outdoor Sportsman Group. The magazine was called ''Shotgun News'' until December 2015. History and profile ''Shotgun News'' was established in 1946. By page count, the magazine consists predominantly of advertisements, similar to fashion magazines such as ''Vogue''. Generally speaking, ''Shotgun News format contains a featured review, a historical or handgun-related article, an article on amateur gunsmithing, and columns by Clayton Cramer, Chris Knox, Jeff Knox, and Vin Suprynowicz. Classified ads are also accepted, and unsold space is filled with historical quotations by the Founders. Firearm
A firearm is any type of gun designed to be readily carried and used by an individual. The term is legally defined further in different countries (see Legal definitions). Clayton Cramer
Clayton E. Cramer is an American historian, author, gun enthusiast, and software engineer. He played an important early role in documenting errors in the book ''Arming America'' by Michael A. Bellesiles, a book that was later proven to be based on fraudulent research. His work was cited by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas in ''United States v. Emerson'', 46 F.Supp.2d 598 (N.D.Tex. 1999). His research also informed the Supreme Court decision in the Second Amendment cases '' District of Columbia v. Heller'' and '' McDonald v. Chicago''. He holds an MA in history from Sonoma State University. He currently resides in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, near Boise. Vin Suprynowicz (born c. 1950) is an American libertarian author who formerly edited editorial pages for the Las Vegas, Nevada-based ''Las Vegas Review-Journal''. He has published two volumes of nonfiction essays on the philosophy of law and society, ''Send In the Waco Killers'' (1999) and ''The Ballad of Carl Drega'' (2002). Project Appleseed is a marksmanship program that focuses on teaching traditional rifle marksmanship from standing, sitting/kneeling, and prone positions over a two-day weekend shooting clinic called an "Appleseed". It is the primary focus of The Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that teaches and promotes traditional rifle marksmanship, while also teaching American heritage and history in order to encourage civic activism.
