The women's 500 metres in short track speed skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics took place on 16 February at the Salt Lake Ice Center. Salt Lake Ice Center
Vivint Arena (stylized as vivint arena), formerly known as Delta Center, EnergySolutions Arena and Vivint Smart Home Arena, is an indoor arena located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Cordia Tsoi
Poo Yee "Cordia" Tsoi (;) is a Canadian-born former short track speed skater who competed for Hong Kong at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Along with teammate Christy Ren, they became the first athletes to represent Hong Kong at the Winter Olympics. Tsoi was born in Canada, but grew up in Hong Kong and attended Canadian International School. She competed in Kung Fu (Hong Kong National Team in Wushu 1999-2002) and Triathlon before embarking on a career in speedskating. Sarah Lindsay (speed Skater)
Sarah Joanne Lindsay (born 8 June 1980 in Kingston upon Thames, London, England) is a British short track speed skater who has competed at the Winter Olympic Games on three occasions. Lindsay made her debut for the Great Britain team in 1996 and from 2000 was British Ladies Champion for nine consecutive years. She was coached by Nicky Gooch, the winner of the bronze medal in the men's 500 metres event at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Lindsay first appeared at the Winter Olympics in the 2002 Games held in Salt Lake City, Utah. She competed in the women's 500, 1000 and 1500 metres short track speed skating events. She was eliminated in the heats of the 1500 metres and made the quarterfinals of her other two events, achieving a best finish of tenth in the 500 metres competition. Szandra Lajtos
Szandra Lajtos (pronounced ; born 22 July 1986 in Szeged) is a Hungarian short track speed skater. Her first major championship was the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, where she participated at the age of 15, being the youngest member of the Hungarian delegation, and also the youngest competitor in short track speed skating. Lajtos ran in two distances, finishing 28th in 500 metres and 19th in the 1,000 metres event. Among her best results are a silver medal in the 3000 metres relay from the 2011 European Championship and two bronze medals in the same event from 2006 and 2012. Amy Peterson
Amy Peterson (born November 29, 1971) is an American short track speed skater. Peterson competed in five consecutive Olympic games from when short track speed skating was exhibition sport in 1988 to 2002. Peterson qualified for her first Olympic Games in 1988 for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary at age 16. In 1988 short track speed skating was just a demonstration sport and no medals were awarded. Peterson won the 1,000 meters, and 1,500 meters US speed skating titles at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1989. She also placed third in the 500 meters. Peterson was born in Maplewood, Minnesota. She attended Johnson Senior High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota and graduated in 1990. Her uncle, Gene Sandvig, competed in speed skating in the 1952 and 1956 Olympic Games.
