Short Note
''Short Note'' is the debut album and title track by Australian band Matt Finish, released in January 1981. The album ''Short Note'' peaked at #14 in the Australian albums charts. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until Australian Recording Industry Association created its own charts in mid-1988. The title song peaked at #18. It was recorded by Wendy Matthews and appeared on her 2004 album '' Café Naturale'', featured in Triple M’s ''Best Songs of the Eighties'' poll in 2005, in the 2007 Australian feature film ''The Final Winter'', and on numerous compilation albums including Rajon Music Group's ''Australian Made Volume 2'' (2001), ScreenSound's ''Running In The Shadows'' (2004) and Sony BMG's ''The Essential Australian'' series (2008). Matt Finish
Matt Finish are an Australian Rock music, rock band formed in mid-1979 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Matt Moffitt (1956–2003) and drummer, composer and producer John Prior (musician), John Prior. The 1981 line-up of Moffitt, Prior, Richard Grossman (bassist), Richard Grossman on bass guitar and Jeff Clayton on rhythm guitar recorded their debut album, ''Short Note (album), Short Note'', which peaked at No. 14 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart. The title song, "Short Note", peaked at No. 33 on the related Singles Chart and became a standard on Australian radio stations. Grossman was later a member of Divinyls and Hoodoo Gurus. On 13 August 2003 Moffit died in his sleep, aged 46. From 2006 Prior has continued Matt Finish with various line-ups. ''Café Naturale'' is the seventh studio album by singer Wendy Matthews, released by BMG in Australia on 24 May 2004. It is an album of cover songs chosen by Matthews and the album's producer, Michael Szumowski. Matthews enjoyed recording this album and felt the songs came together naturally, and felt she broke down some personal barriers. The album yielded only one single, " All I Need". Don Walker (musician)
Donald Hugh Walker (born 29 November 1951) is an Australian musician and songwriter who wrote many of the hits for Australian pub rock band Cold Chisel. Walker is considered to be one of Australia's best songwriters. In 2012 he was inducted into the Australian Songwriter's Hall of Fame. He played piano and keyboard with the Cold Chisel from 1973 to 1983, when they disbanded. He has since continued to record and tour, both solo, initially under the name Catfish and as Tex, Don and Charlie, and worked as a songwriter for others. In 2009, he released his first book. Richard Clapton describes Walker as, "the most Australian writer there has ever been. Don just digs being a sort of Beat poet, who goes around observing, especially around the streets of Kings Cross. John David Prior is an Australian musician, composer and producer recognized for his work with Matt Finish, Adrian Belew (King Crimson), Mick Taylor (The Rolling Stones), Roy Buchanan, Champion Jack Dupree, New Theatre, Coca-Cola, '' The Great Outdoors'', Iota, Wicked Beat Sound System, Kevin Borich and Dale Barlow. Richard Grossman (bassist)
Richard Grossman is an Australian rock musician who has played bass guitar for two iconic bands: Divinyls and Hoodoo Gurus. Hoodoo Gurus' status on the Australian rock scene was acknowledged when they were inducted into the 2007 ARIA Hall of Fame. For Grossman, this was his second Hall of Fame induction in a row; the 2006 award was for his stint with Divinyls. Often referred to as Rick Grossman, he has also performed with other Australian bands: Matt Finish, Ghostwriters, Persian Rugs, The Kelly Gang and Men at Work. Matt Moffitt
Matthew David Moffitt (20 August 195612 August 2003) was an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He fronted the rock band, Matt Finish (1978–81, 1983–85, 1990–2003), and worked as a solo artist. Matt Finish were a popular live band, which had a top 20 hit on the Kent Music Report singles chart with " Short Note" (1981). Moffit's released a solo album in 1986, titled '' As Little as a Look'', it provided the single, "Miss This Tonight", which reached the top 30 in June 1986. Matt Moffitt died "in his sleep, apparently from a stroke"; his funeral was held on 20 August 2003, on what would have been his 47th birthday. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The Final Winter
''The Final Winter'' is an Australian drama film released in 2007. It was directed by Brian Andrews and Jane Forrest and produced by Anthony Coffee, and Michelle Russell, while independently produced it is being distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was written by Matthew Nable who also starred as the lead role 'Grub' Henderson.
