Shlomo Cohen-Tzidon
Shlomo Cohen-Tzidon ( he, שלמה כהן-צידון, 15 February 1923 - 16 February 2012) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Gahal and the Free Centre between 1966 and 1969. Biography Born in Alexandria in Egypt, Cohen-Tzidon attended the Upper Trade school in his home city, and was an activist in the Egyptian branch of the Zionist movement. In 1949 he made aliyah to Israel, where he studied at the School for Jurisprudence and Economics in Tel Aviv, and was certified as a lawyer. An activist amongst Mizrahi Jews, he published a magazine entitled ''HaMizrah HaHadash''. A one-time member of Mapai, in 1961 he was amongst the founders of the Liberal Party. He was on the Gahal list (an alliance of the Liberal Party and Herut) for the 1965 elections, and although he failed to win a seat, he entered the Knesset on 16 October 1966 as a replacement for the deceased Eliyahu Meridor. Alexandria

Gahal Politicians
Gahal ( he, גח"ל, an acronym for ''Gush Herut–Liberalim'' (Hebrew: ), ''lit.'' ''Freedom–Liberals Bloc'') was the main right-leaning political alliance in Israel, ranging from the centre-right to right-wing, from its founding in 1965 until the establishment of Likud in 1973. It was led by Menachem Begin. History Gahal was formed by an alliance of Herut and the Liberal Party towards the end of the fifth Knesset in preparation for the 1965 elections. The alliance brought together the only two right-wing parties in the Knesset, each with 17 seats at the time. The Liberal Party had only been formed in 1961, by a merger of the General Zionists and the Progressive Party. The Gahal platform largely incorporated Herut's approach to security and foreign affairs and the Liberal Party's approach to economics and finance. Egyptian Jews constitute both one of the oldest and youngest Jewish communities in the world. The historic core of the Jewish community in Egypt consisted mainly of Egyptian Arabic speaking Rabbanites and Karaites.
