The City of Broadmeadows was a local government area about north of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of , and existed from 1857 until 1994. History Broadmeadows was first incorporated as a road district on 27 November 1857. It became a shire on 27 January 1871. On 1 October 1915, as part of a series of adjustments of local government boundaries in Victoria, Broadmeadows briefly absorbed Merriang Shire, a area, including the towns of Kalkallo, Donnybrook and Wallan and dating from 1863. Many of these areas were transferred to the Shire of Romsey on 31 May 1916. With the arrival of reticulated water, electricity and electrified rail in the 1920s, the southern part of the shire was opened up to residential development. However, the Great Depression reduced the demand for new housing, and small farms and derelict subdivisions were major features of the landscape. The Shire of Romsey was a local government area about north-north-west of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1862 until 1995. History Romsey was incorporated as a road district on 5 August 1862, and became a shire on 16 June 1871. Accessed at State Library of Victoria, La Trobe Reading Room. On 10 January 1890, the Shire of Lancefield was created from parts of the Lancefield and Rochford Ridings. However, it and the Shire of Springfield were united with Romsey on 31 May 1916. Parts of Romsey was annexed to the Shire of Kilmore on 28 May 1958. On 19 January 1995, the Shire of Romsey was abolished, and along with the Shires of Gisborne, Kyneton and Newham and Woodend, was merged into the newly created Shire of Macedon Ranges. Pascoe Vale Road is a major thoroughfare through the northern suburbs of Melbourne, connecting the outer northern fringe to the inner northern suburbs. Route Pascoe Vale Road starts at the intersection with Somerton Road in Coolaroo and runs south as a four-lane, dual-carriageway road until the underpass with Camp Road and Johnstone Street in Broadmeadows, where it narrows to a four-lane, single-carriageway road. It continues south over the Western Ring Road through Glenroy, under CityLink and over the Craigieburn railway line through Strathmore, until the intersection with Fletcher Street in Essendon, where it shares surface tram tracks. City Of Hume
The City of Hume is a local government area located within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It includes the outer north-western suburbs and a number of rural localities between 13 and 40 kilometres from the Melbourne city centre. It has an area of 504 square kilometres, and in June 2018 it had a population of 224,394. The City was formed on 15 December 1994 after the amalgamation of most of the City of Broadmeadows, the Shire of Bulla and parts of the City of Keilor and City of Whittlesea. The City is unique in Australia in that it was the first local government to introduce a Bill of Rights for its denizens in 2004, following the establishment of a Social Justice Charter in 2001. City Of Brunswick
The City of Brunswick was a local government area in the inner-northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It comprised the suburbs of Brunswick, Brunswick East and West Brunswick. It ceased to exist on 22 June 1994, when its council was disbanded by the Kennett Government and replaced with appointed commissioners, who oversaw its amalgamation with the City of Coburg and parts of the City of Broadmeadows, to create the City of Moreland. The City of Merri-bek is a Local government areas of Victoria, local government area in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia. It comprises the inner northern suburbs between 4 and 11 kilometres from the Melbourne city centre, Melbourne CBD. The Merri-bek local government area covers , and in June 2018, it had a population of 181,725. The local government area was created as City of Moreland in 1994 during the amalgamations of local governments by the Victorian Government, state government, being created from the former local government areas of the City of Brunswick, the City of Coburg and the southern part of the City of Broadmeadows.
