Shire Of Dunmunkle
The Shire of Dunmunkle was a local government area about west of Bendigo and east of Horsham, in western Victoria, Australia. The shire was bounded by the Yarriambiack Creek on the western boundary and the Richardson River on the east. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1877 until 1995. History Dunmunkle was first incorporated as a shire on 28 September 1877. In May 1916, the shire lost part of its North Riding to the Shire of Donald, but gained parts of the South and East Ridings of the Shire of Warracknabeal. On 20 January 1995, the Shire of Dunmunkle was abolished, and along with parts of the Shires of Karkarooc, Warracknabeal and Wimmera, was merged into the newly created Shire of Yarriambiack. Wimmera
The Wimmera is a region of the Australian state of Victoria. The district is located within parts of the Loddon Mallee and the Grampians regions; and covers the dryland farming area south of the range of Mallee scrub, east of the South Australia border and north of the Great Dividing Range. It can also be defined as the land within the social catchment of Horsham, its main settlement. Most of the Wimmera is very flat, with only the Grampians and Mount Arapiles rising above vast plains and the low plateaux that form the Great Divide in this part of Victoria. Minyip is a town in the Wimmera region of Victoria, Australia, north west of Melbourne. It is in the Shire of Yarriambiack local government area. At the , Minyip had a population of 524. The name "Minyip" is derived from an Aboriginal word for "ashes" or "camping place". The town is known as the "Heart of the Wheat Belt". Dryland agriculture especially grain production and handling is one of the region's major industries. History The area was first settled by European selectors in about 1872. The town became a rail-head when the railway arrived from Murtoa in 1886. A grain shed was used to store local wheat until silos were built in 1939–40. The Shire of Karkarooc was a local government area in northwestern Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1896 until 1995. History Land in Karkarooc was originally within the St Arnaud Road District, from 1861 and the Shire of St Arnaud, from 1864, and then within the Shire of Borung, after its severance from St Arnaud. Parts of the North and West Ridings of Borung severed on 29 May 1896, to form the Shire of Karkarooc. On 29 May 1897, it annexed the northeastern part of Shire of Dimboola, and two days later annexed part of Castle Donnington. On 31 May 1906, it also annexed part of the Tyrrell Riding of the Shire of Wycheproof.
