Shinde (pronunciation: in̪d̪e is a clan of the Maratha clan system of Kunbi (Kurmi) origin; variations of the name include Scindia and ''Sindhia'', '' Sindia''. The ''Shinde'' last name may be also found in the Dalit community. The Scindia dynasty was founded by Ranoji Scindia, a Kunbi personal servant who started as a "slipper-bearer" of Bajirao I Peshwa. Shilpa Shinde (born 28 August 1977) is an Indian television actress. She is known for playing Angoori Tiwari in &TV's ''Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!''. Mahadaji Shinde (b. 23 December 1730 – 12 February 1794), later known as Mahadji Scindia or Madhava Rao Sindhia, was a Maratha statesman and ruler of Ujjain in Central India. Tarabai Shinde (1850–1910) was a feminist activist who protested patriarchy and caste in 19th century India. She is known for her published work, '' Stri Purush Tulana'' ("A Comparison Between Women and Men"), originally published in Marathi in 1882.
