Sheet Music (Barry White Album)
''Sheet Music'' is the self-produced eleventh album by American R&B singer Barry White, and the second release on his own CBS-affiliated custom label, Unlimited Gold. Although it peaked at #19 in the R&B charts, it was a commercial disappointment. "Love Makin' Music" was the most successful of the single releases, peaking at #25 in the R&B charts. White also recorded this track as well as "She's Everything to Me" in Spanish for the Latin-American market as "Mi nueva canción" and "Ella es todo para mí" respectively. The London branch of CBS Records went for "Rum and Coke" as the second single, but as none of his singles on his new labels had managed to reach the UK Singles Charts, they stopped releasing any further singles off any of his following 4 albums. The Netherlands belatedly released the track "Ghetto Letto" as a single in August 1981, choosing it over White's then current single "Louie Louie". Beware! (Barry White Album)
''Beware!'' is the self-produced thirteenth studio album by R&B singer Barry White, released in November 1981, and the fourth release on his own CBS-affiliated custom label, Unlimited Gold. Peaking at #40 on the R&B chart, it fared better than his previous duet album with his wife which had failed to chart at all. It was preceded by the first single, a cover of Richard Berry's "Louie Louie", originally recorded in 1955. White performed it on Soul Train on September 19, 1981, but it failed to chart. The second single, the title track of the album, was also a cover version from the 1950's, originally written by Jo Ann Belvin for her husband Jesse Belvin shortly before they were both killed in a motor accident in 1960. "Beware" reached #49 on the R&B charts. As with his previous album, White's UK label refused to release any singles off the album. Moritz "Morey" Amsterdam (December 14, 1908 – October 28, 1996) was an American actor, comedian, writer and producer. He played Buddy Sorrell on CBS's ''The Dick Van Dyke Show'' from 1961 to 1966. Early life Amsterdam was born in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest of the three sons of Max and Jennie (née Finder) Amsterdam, Jewish immigrants from Austria-Hungary. He began working in vaudeville in 1922 as the straight man for his older brother's jokes. He was a cellist, a skill he used throughout his career. "Louie Louie" is a rhythm and blues song written and composed by American musician Richard Berry in 1955, recorded in 1956, and released in 1957. It is best known for the 1963 hit version by the Kingsmen and has become a standard in pop and rock. Richard Berry, Jr. (April 11, 1935 – January 23, 1997) was an American singer, songwriter and musician, who performed with many Los Angeles doo-wop and close harmony groups in the 1950s, including The Flairs and The Robins. He is best known as the composer and original performer of the rock standard "Louie Louie". The song became a hit for The Kingsmen and others, and it is one of the most recorded songs of all time; however, Berry received little financial benefit for writing it until the 1980s, having signed away his rights to the song in 1959. Lord Invader (Rupert Westmore Grant; 13 December 1914 – 15 October 1961) was a prominent calypsonian with a very distinctive, gravelly voice. He was born in San Fernando, Trinidad. He became active in calypso in the mid-1930s, and was considered a country bumpkin by his contemporaries, because of his humble beginning. It was Grant's tailor who gave him his moniker by commenting, "I tell you, Rupert, you should call yourself Lord Invader so when you go up to the city you be invadin' the capital." With a new name, in 1937 he went to the capital city of Port of Spain and began his career in earnest. He competed in many calypso competitions (including the very first Calypso King competition) and recorded for RCA Bluebird.
