Sheena (film)
''Sheena'', also known as ''Sheena: Queen of the Jungle'', is a 1984 superhero film based on a comic-book character that first appeared in the late 1930s, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. A hybrid of action-adventure, superhero film and soap opera–style drama, ''Sheena'' was shot on location in Kenya. It tells the tale of a heroine raised in the fictional African country of Tigora by the fictional Zambouli tribe. The film starred Tanya Roberts, Ted Wass, and Trevor Thomas. It was directed by John Guillermin and written by Lorenzo Semple Jr., who had previously collaborated on the 1976 remake of ''King Kong''. Released by Columbia Pictures on 17 August 1984, ''Sheena'' bombed in theaters and was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Tanya Roberts), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Musical Score, but it did find some cult success on home video and DVD. Princess Elizabeth Of Toro
Princess Elizabeth of Tooro (Elizabeth Christobel Edith Bagaaya Akiiki; born 1936) is the ''Batebe'' (Princess Royal) of the Kingdom of Tooro. She is a Ugandan lawyer, politician, diplomat, and model. She was the first East African woman to be admitted to the English Bar. She is a paternal aunt of the King of Tooro, Rukidi IV. She briefly served as minister of foreign affairs under Idi Amin from February to November 1974. Early life and education The Princess was born in 1936 to Rukidi III of Tooro, the eleventh Omukama of Toro who reigned between 1928 and 1965. Her mother was Queen Kezia, a daughter of Nikodemo Kakoro, a senior chief. Her title from birth was ''Omubiitokati'' or ''Princess''. John Guillermin (11 November 192527 September 2015) was a French-British film director, writer and producer who was most active in big-budget, action-adventure films throughout his lengthy career. The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies and Razzie Awards) is a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic under-achievements. Co-founded by UCLA film graduates and film industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy, the Razzie Awards' satirical annual ceremony has preceded its opposite, the Academy Awards, for four decades. The term ''raspberry'' is used in its irreverent sense, as in "blowing a raspberry". The statuette itself is a golf ball-sized raspberry atop a Super 8mm film reel spray-painted gold, with an estimated street value of $4.97. The Golden Raspberry Foundation has claimed that the award "encourages well-known filmmakers and top notch performers to own their bad." Errol John (20 December 1924 – 10 July 1988) was a Trinidad and Tobago actor and playwright who emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1951.
