Shawnee Slopes, Calgary
Shawnee Slopes is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the south by James McKevitt Road, to the east by Macleod Trail, to the north by Fish Creek Provincial Park and to the west by Evergreen Street SW. It was named for the Shawnee native people. Shawnee Slopes is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillors. Shawnee Slopes Golf Course The Shawnee Slopes Golf Course was developed in the center of the community and was primary amenity for residents and the general public. On 13 June 2011, it was announced that the golf course would permanently close to the public on 2 October 2011. Midnapore, Calgary
Midnapore is a community within the City of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north and east by Fish Creek Provincial Park, to the south by Sun Valley Boulevard and to the west by Macleod Trail. History Midnapore was once an unincorporated hamlet under the jurisdiction of the Municipal District of Turner Valley No. 32. The Hamlet of Midnapore and adjoining lands were annexed by the City of Calgary on December 30, 1961. Following annexation, Midnapore was established as a neighbourhood in 1977. The Fish-Creek Lacombe C-Train station, which serves part of Calgary's current LRT light rail transit system, recalls Midnapore's former past through its modern interpretation of the former Midnapore rail station. Lake Bonavista is a neighbourhood in Southeast Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded by Anderson Road to the north, Macleod Trail to the west, Canyon Meadows Drive to the south, and Bow Bottom Trail to the east. The small community of Bonavista Downs resides in the northeast corner of the neighbourhood. History Lake Bonavista was developed by the Keith Construction company starting in 1967. It was the first community in Canada to be built around a man-made lake, and served as a prototype for other lake communities in Calgary. Two trailer courts were on the west side of Bonavista, north of the Avenida Shopping Centre, alongside Macleod Trail. A condominium (or condo for short) is an ownership structure whereby a building is divided into several units that are each separately owned, surrounded by common areas that are jointly owned. The term can be applied to the building or complex itself, as well as each individual unit within.
