Aeneas Shaw ( – February 6, 1814) was a Scottish soldier and political figure in Upper Canada. Shaw was born in Pitlochry, Scotland and came to Staten Island, Province of New York, New York around 1770. He enlisted in the Queen's Rangers at the start of the American Revolutionary War, American War of Independence, later rising to the rank of captain. After the siege of Yorktown, he settled in the Nashwaak River area of New Brunswick. He rejoined the re-formed Queen's Rangers and moved to Kingston, Ontario, Kingston in Upper Canada in 1792. When he was appointed to the Executive Council of Upper Canada, Executive Council and Legislative Council of Upper Canada in 1794, he moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara. Artie Shaw (born Arthur Jacob Arshawsky; May 23, 1910 – December 30, 2004) was an American clarinetist, composer, bandleader, actor and author of both fiction and non-fiction. Widely regarded as "one of jazz's finest clarinetists", Shaw led one of the United States' most popular big bands in the late 1930s through the early 1940s. Though he had numerous hit records, he was perhaps best known for his 1938 recording of Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine." Before the release of "Beguine," Shaw and his fledgling band had languished in relative obscurity for over two years and, after its release, he became a major pop artist within short order. The record eventually became one of the era's defining recordings. Andrew Shaw (born July 20, 1991) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. During his 10-season NHL career, Shaw played for the Blackhawks and the Montreal Canadiens. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Blackhawks (2013 and 2015).
