Shaun Von Berg
Shaun von Berg (born 16 September 1986) is a South African cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and leg-break bowler who plays for Northerns. He was born in Pretoria. Domestic career Von Berg made his cricketing debut in the Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League for Sandwich Town, for whom he played 16 matches during the 2006 season, the team finishing in sixth place in the league. Von Berg made his first-class debut for Northerns during the 2009–10 season, against Border. From the lower order, he scored 44 runs in the first innings in which he batted. In August 2017, Von Berg was named in Bloem City Blazers' squad for the first season of the T20 Global League. However, in October 2017, Cricket South Africa initially postponed the tournament until November 2018, with it being cancelled soon after. 2018–19 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series
The 2018–19 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 26 September 2018 to 31 January 2019. It was the first edition not to be sponsored by Sunfoil, after they decided not to renew their sponsorship. Lions won the tournament, after beating Warriors in the final match of the competition. They won the fixture, with just nine deliveries left in the game, to gain enough bonus points to overtake the Cape Cobras. Titans were the defending champions, but finished in last place, with just one win in their ten matches. Cricket South Africa announced that the competition would be split into two sections, the first from September to November, and the second from December and January. South African Cricket Team In Sri Lanka In 2018
The South Africa cricket team toured Sri Lanka in July and August 2018 to play two Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a Twenty20 International (T20I) match. Originally, the tour was for three Test matches, but the third match was dropped and replaced by the ODI and T20I fixtures. The extra ODI fixtures were used as preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Ahead of the tour, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named Dinesh Chandimal as the captain of the Test side. However, Chandimal faced disciplinary charges, for his role in alleged ball-tampering during the second Test against the West Indies in Saint Lucia in June 2018. Boland (cricket Team)
The Boland is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the Boland region, in the South African province of Western Cape, in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by the Boland Cricket Board (BCB) and plays its home games at Boland Park in Paarl. The 2019–20 Momentum One Day Cup was a domestic one-day cricket tournament that took place in South Africa. It was the 39th edition of the championship, with the tournament originally scheduled to run from 31 January to 21 March 2020. Titans were the defending champions. Following the conclusion of the group stage, Dolphins, Lions, Warriors and Knights had qualified for the semi-finals. However, on 16 March 2020, Cricket South Africa suspended all cricket in the country for 60 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2019 Mzansi Super League
The 2019 Mzansi Super League, also known as the MSL 2.0, was the second edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 8 November and ended on 16 December 2019. Jozi Stars were the defending champions, having won the inaugural 2018 tournament. Squads On 7 August 2019, Cricket South Africa announced that more than 250 cricketers had registered for the tournament's draft. Each of the six franchise teams also named the players they had retained for this years' edition. The following day the marquee players were announced. The full squads were confirmed on 3 September 2019. Durban Heat
Durban Heat were a franchise team of the South African Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 cricket tournament. The team were based at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban. Durban Heat played in the first two editions of the MLS in 2018 Mzansi Super League, 2018 and 2019 Mzansi Super League, 2019, before COVID-19 delayed the competition in 2020. The franchise was dissolved in 2021 in response to the reform of the domestic structure of South African cricket. All six of the original city-based franchise teams in the Mzansi Super League were to have been replaced by eight new teams based around the new South African domestic structure, but the league itself was later cancelled and replaced by a new franchise competition, the SA20 (cricket), SA20, beginning in the 2022/23 season.
