SharpTone Records is an American independent record label started on September 11, 2013. The label was founded by Nuclear Blast CEO Markus Staiger and former vice president of Sumerian Records Shawn Keith. The label's roster includes an amalgamation of metalcore and rock bands: Don Broco, Loathe, Miss May I, We Came as Romans, Of Mice & Men, Holding Absence, Story of the Year, August Burns Red, Polaris, Currents, Crystal Lake, Emmure, and The Gloom In The Corner. History Conception and first releases (2013) The record label was started by Markus Staiger, the current CEO of Nuclear Blast Records and Shawn Keith, the former vice president of Sumerian Records. The label has been described as an offshoot label of Nuclear Blast which primarily focuses on rock and alternative music, similar to Arising Empire. Markus Staiger
Nuclear Blast is a record label and mail order record distributor with subsidiaries in Germany, the United States and Brazil. The label was founded in 1987 by Markus Staiger in Germany. Originally releasing hardcore punk records, the label moved on to releasing albums by thrash metal, melodic death metal, grindcore, industrial metal, power metal and black metal bands, as well as tribute albums. It also distributes and promotes two post-hardcore/metalcore labels: SharpTone Records, focused on the American scene, and Arising Empire, focused more on European bands. In October 2018, French independent label Believe Digital acquired a majority stake in Nuclear Blast. August Burns Red is an American metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formed in 2003. The band's current lineup consists of lead guitarist John Benjamin "JB" Brubaker, rhythm guitarist Brent Rambler, drummer Matt Greiner, lead vocalist Jake Luhrs and bassist Dustin Davidson. Look At Yourself (Emmure Album)
''Look at Yourself'' is the seventh studio album by American band Emmure. It is the first album to feature the new line-up with Joshua Travis, Phil Lockett, and Josh Miller. The album was released on March 3, 2017, through SharpTone Records. In October 2016, Emmure released "Torch", the first single from the album, with "Russian Hotel Aftermath" following two months later. Following the release of the album, some versions no longer feature the audio sample at the beginning of the track "Flag of the Beast" due to the band being unable to get clearance and permission to use it, as the band confirmed themselves via a comment on the track-by-track video of the song. Craigery "Craig" Owens (born August 26, 1984) is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of Chiodos. He has also had an involvement in various projects such as Cinematic Sunrise, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Isles & Glaciers, and Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. Loathe are an English heavy metal band from Liverpool. Formed in 2014, the group consists of lead vocalist Kadeem France, guitarist and second vocalist Erik Bickerstaffe, drummer Sean Radcliffe and bassist Feisal El-Khazragi. Arising Empire is a German record label, founded in 2015, which focuses on punk, rock and metalcore music. History Arising Empire was founded in 2015 by Markus Staiger and former "People Like You Records" manager Tobbe Falarz. It is, besides the subsidiary company SharpTone Records, which was founded shortly after Arising Empire, a sub-label of Nuclear Blast. The distribution was taken on by Warner Music at the time. Emmure () is an American metalcore band formed in 2003. Originally based in New Fairfield, Connecticut, before moving to Queens, New York, the group has released eight albums, with their first public release being a 2006 EP entitled '' The Complete Guide to Needlework''. Victory Records has worked with the band throughout most of their career, starting with '' Goodbye to the Gallows'' (2007).
