Shanghai Port FC (), previously named Shanghai SIPG, is a professional football club that participates in the Chinese Super League under licence from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Pudong, Shanghai, and their home stadium is the Pudong Football Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 37,000. Their owners are the Chinese group Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG). The club was founded on 25 December 2005 as Shanghai East Asia FC by former Chinese international footballer Xu Genbao. The club used graduates from the Genbao Football Base, a football academy also founded by Xu, to form their first team as they made their debut in the third tier of China's football league pyramid in the 2006 league season. They worked their way up to the top tier and finished as league champions for the first time in the 2018 Chinese Super League season. The Pudong Football Stadium, currently named SAIC Motor Pudong Arena due to sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Shanghai, China. Completed in October 2020, it is the home of Chinese Super League club Shanghai Port. The stadium has a capacity for 37,000 spectators. Construction Construction broke ground on 28 April 2018 according to the building plans made by HPP Architekten. Cao Yunding
Cao Yunding (; born 22 November 1989) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays as a right-footed left winger for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League. Club career Cao Yunding started his football career when he joined the Genbao Football Academy in 2000 and was promoted to Shanghai East Asia's first team during the 2006 season. He scored his first goal for the club on 20 August 2006 in a 4-1 win against Wuhan Yaqi. Cao established himself as a regular in the team as the club won third tier title and promotion to the second tier during the 2007 season. In the 2009 season, the club became genuine promotion candidates and Cao played twenty-two games and scored two goals as Shanghai finished fourth and narrowly missed out on promotion. Fan Zhiyi
Fan Zhiyi (; born 6 November 1969) is a Chinese coach and former international footballer. He played as a defender for Shanghai Shenhua, Crystal Palace, Dundee, Shanghai COSCO Huili, Cardiff City, Buler Rangers and Shanghai Zobon. He was considered a trailblazer in his native homeland when Sun Jihai and he became the first two Chinese footballers to play in the English leagues, joining Crystal Palace in 1998. Internationally, he would go on to play with the Chinese national team in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He has since gone on to become a football coach and had his first stint as manager at Shanghai East Asia. The 2009 China League One is the sixth season since the establishment. League kicked off on 28 March 2009 and is scheduled to end on 25 October 2009. Winners and runners-up promotes to Chinese Super League next season and the last placed team was relegated to League Two. League One expands to 14 teams next season. Shanghai Stadium
The Shanghai Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Shanghai. Between 2009 and 2019, the stadium hosted home matches of the Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG. History The stadium opened on 14 March 1999 when the eighth National Games of China were held in Shanghai. It was used for football preliminaries at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Shanghai Stadium was also the venue for the opening ceremony of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Jinshan District, is a suburban district of southwestern Shanghai, neighboring Zhejiang province and Hangzhou Bay. It has a land area of and a population of 732,500 as of the 2010 Chinese census. The 11th National Games of China were held in various cities in Shandong from October 16 to October 28, 2009. Represented were 33 sports, 43 disciplines and 362 events, including 4 winter sports which were held in Shenyang, Changchun and Qingdao between January and April 2009. Shanghai 02 F.C. is a defunct Chinese football club based in Shanghai, China. History The club was founded by Xu Genbao in 1995 and was aimed at developing football talents for the participation of the 2002 World Cup, from which the club was named.
