Shane McEntee (politician)
Shane Alan McEntee (19 December 1956 – 21 December 2012) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine from 2011 to 2012. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 2005 to 2012. Early life and family McEntee was born in the village of Nobber in County Meath. He had seven siblings. His father Tony died in March 2011 at the age of 86, while his mother Madge outlived him. He became an active member of Fine Gael when he joined the party at the age of 15. Before being elected, he worked as a farmer and agricultural sales representative. He ran the "Dee Local Bar". McEntee was also very involved in the Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA, both as trainer and player (until an injury ended his promising career). A Minister of State ( ga, Aire Stáit) in Republic of Ireland, Ireland (also called a junior minister) is of non-cabinet rank attached to one or more Department of State (Ireland), Departments of State of the Government of Ireland and assists the Minister of the Government responsible for that Department. Nobber GAA
Nobber GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Nobber, County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath GAA competitions. The club has won the Meath Senior Football Championship once when North Meath GAA (which consisted of a few clubs in North Meath including Nobber) won the title in 1950. In 1983, 1986, and 1989 Nobber reached the semi-final of the Senior championship. The club currently competes at Senior level, after winning the Intermediate Championship in 2019, The Club also won the Intermediate Championship in 1980 and also in 2010. Shane Cassells
Shane Cassells (born 6 April 1978) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has served as a Senator for the Labour Panel since April 2020. He previously served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Meath West constituency from 2016 to 2020. Before being elected as a TD, Cassells worked for the ''Fingal Independent'' as a sports journalist, and with publishing house Devlin Media. He is a nephew of footballer Joe Cassells and of Peter Cassells, former head of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. Cassells was first elected to Navan City Council in 1999, and was a member of Meath County Council from 2004 to 2016, serving as Mayor of Navan twice. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county. O'Mahony's lost to Arravale Rovers of Tipperary by 0-4 to 0-3.
