Shandao Temple (formerly transliterated as Shantao Temple Station until 2003), secondary station name Huashan, is a station on the Bannan line of Taipei Metro in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is named after the Shandao Temple. Station overview The two-level, underground station structure with an island platform and six exits. Zhongzheng District (also Jhongjheng District) is a District (Taiwan), district in Taipei. It is home to most of the national government buildings of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan), including the Presidential Office Building, Taipei, Presidential Office, the Executive Yuan, the Control Yuan, the Legislative Yuan, the Judicial Yuan and various government ministries. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. The Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI; ), formerly Taiwan Film Institute (TFI; ), is a foundation in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan, that aims to preserve Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese films. At its establishment in 1979, the foundation was known as the Film Library of the Motion Picture Development Foundation. It became the National Film Archive in 1989, and the Chinese Taipei Film Archive later. The Mayor's Residence Art Salon () is a former residence in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The residence building was originally built in 1940 by the Japanese government for the governor's families. It was used as the residence of Taipei mayors until 1994. In 1999, the Department of Cultural Affairs of Taipei City Government outsourced the operation of the building and converted it into an art and cultural center. Architecture The building was constructed with Japanese architecture style. The area of the building spans over an area of 990 m2 on a total ground area of 2,640 m2. Insect Science Museum
The Insect Science Museum () is a museum of insects in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The museum is located at Cheng Kung Senior High School and it is one of the largest insect science museums in Asia. History The museum was constructed in 1968 and was opened to the public on 1971. Exhibitions The museum exhibits various collections of insects in the form of model specimens. In total, there are around 750 boxes and almost 40,000 specimens displayed at the museum. Taipei Main Station
Taipei Main Station () is a railway and metro station in Taipei, Taiwan. It is served by Taiwan High Speed Rail, the Taiwan Railways Administration, and the Taipei Metro. It is also connected through underground passageways to the terminal station of Taoyuan Airport MRT and the Taipei Bus Station. In 2017, it was the busiest station on all three rail systems, with a total of 190 million entries and exits. Far Eastern Hospital Metro Station
Far Eastern Hospital () is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. Station layout The two-level underground station makes use of island platforms and has three exits. The station is 243 meters long and 20.5 meters wide. Blue line trains from Kunyang or Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center terminate here during non-rush hours. Design The entrance to the station was designed as an arch bridge (from "qiao" in Banqiao, meaning "bridge"). It is also meant to represent a "cloud wall", a characteristic of traditional Chinese gardening; the station is located next to Yuanzhi Memorial Garden. Public art in the station consists of a piece titled "River Romance", which combined LED lamps with glass sticks to create a color-changing "river of time". Dingpu Metro Station
Dingpu station is a subway station of Taipei Metro. This station is a 2 km extension to and the western terminus of the Bannan line. Dingpu station is located in Tucheng District, New Taipei City. Construction began in January 2010 and commercial service was scheduled to begin in 2013. Commercial service was scheduled to begin in 2014, but was pushed back to 6 July 2015. Zhongxiao Xinsheng (, formerly transliterated as Chunghsiao Hsinsheng Station until 2003) is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by the Taipei Metro. Station overview The station is a three-level, underground station with two island platforms and seven exits. It is located at the intersection of Zhongxiao East Road and Xinsheng South Road, hence the name of the station. Because space was reserved for the Xinzhuang line (B3) during construction of the Nangang line (B2), there is a direct transfer between the two lines using the pathway between B2 and B3.
