Shake! (formerly NGA, The Core and Milkshake FM) was a television programming block shown by United Kingdom broadcaster Channel 5, airing animated and live-action programmes aimed at children and teenagers age 8 to 15 year olds. History Before the introduction of the name The Core in 2000, the unbranded 'youth' strand was launched back in 1997, presented by Kate McIntyre in vision. Nick Wilson, Channel 5 programme controller for children's and religious programming, said it was a deliberate decision not to give the strand a name, like Channel 4's T4. He said "Once you get past 13 the last thing you want is to be put into your own zone or slot." The strand had its own on-air look from The Design Clinic, which included six new cartoon characters described as "a cross between South Park and the Mr. Men" that will unexpectedly bounce around on McIntyre during the continuity breaks. ''Milkshake!'' (stylised as milkshake!) is a British children's television programming block on Channel 5 and is currently aimed at children aged 3–7. History The block debuted on Channel 5's first full day on air, at 7.30am on 31 March 1997 and is broadcast on weekdays from 06:00 to 09:15 and weekends from 06:00 to 10:00. The block has a number of presenters and features a range of children's programming. Jennifer Pringle (born 1983, in York) is an English television presenter and actress. Pringle is a continuity presenter on ''Milkshake!'', the early-morning programming block for young children, and formerly on ''Shake!'', the weekend morning block for older children, on Channel 5. Pringle joined Milkshake! in July 2006. She joined Shake on 4 October 2009. ''Deepwater Black'' is a 1992 novel, first in the Deepwater trilogy, by the New Zealand science fiction writer Ken Catran, where a cast of young characters are supposedly stranded in space while a virus ravages Earth. The book series itself is quite different from the television series later developed. The approach of the novels focused on the characters as younger children, around 13-14 rather than the television approach where the characters were much older. ''Don't Blame Me'' is an Australian children's television program. In the United Kingdom, the show is known as ''Don't Blame the Koalas''. The series was originally aired on the Nine Network and is also currently shown on ABC3 (the latter channel airing under the UK title). Series overview The show is set in Wallaby Park, an Australian wildlife park in the Ku-ring-gai National Park where the King family arrive from the United Kingdom to live with their Australian relatives after going bankrupt. Before they arrive they believe they have inherited a large cattle ranch, but on arrival are disappointed to meet a largely unprofitable, slightly run down wildlife park.
