Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport ( bn, হযরত শাহ্জালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর, Romanized: ''Hôzrôt Shahjalal Antôrjatik Bimanbôndôr'') ( formerly VGZR) is the largest international airport in Bangladesh. Shah Jalal
Jalāl Mujarrad Kunyāʾī (), popularly known as Shah Jalal, was a celebrated Sufi figure of Bengal. His name is often associated with the Conquest of Sylhet and the spread of Islam into the region, part of a long history of interactions between the Middle East, Turkestan, and South Asia. Various complexes and religious places have been named after him, including the largest airport in Bangladesh, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Birthplace and origin Jalal was said to have been born on 25 May 1271. Various traditions and historical documents differ in his place of birth, and there is a gap of two centuries between the life of the saint and literature which attempted to identify his origin. Uttara Model Town or simply Uttara ( bn, উত্তরা) is a suburb of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The name derives from the Bengali word ''uttar'' meaning "north". Tejgaon Airport is a Bangladesh Air Force military base in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It served as the country's sole international airport prior to the construction of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. History The British had built military airstrips at Tejgaon, Dhaka during the Second World War for operating warplanes towards the Battle of Kohima and other Burmese war threats. NOVOAIR ( bn, নভোএয়ার) is an airline based in Dhaka, Bangladesh operating mostly domestic flights. It operates 25 flights each day from Dhaka to its seven destinations. History NOVOAIR was established in October 2007 as an aviation service provider as the business diversification of parent company Tusuka Group with directors Arshad Jamal, Faiz Khan, Mofizur Rahman, and Fayzur Rahman Badal. Easy Fly Express is a cargo airline based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with its main hub at Shahjalal International Airport. The airline was founded in 2007 and commenced operations on 1 July 2008. Its fleet comprises one Saab 340 aircraft. History Easy Fly Express was founded on 18 April 2007, and received its first aircraft HS 748 (Reg: S2-AAX) on 7 May 2008. Airport Road ( bn, বিমানবন্দর সড়ক), also known as Tongi Diversion Road, a part of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway (N3), is an 8-lane major artery road in Dhaka, that connects Dhaka city, with the Shahjalal International Airport. It is also the main artery that connects Dhaka with the northern suburb of Uttara and the only road that connects Dhaka with northern Districts of Bangladesh and vice versa. Traffic is fairly smooth throughout the road, due to flyovers and interchanges. Facilities Built as a highway to facilitate movement with northern districts of Bangladesh. The 8 lane highway (4 lanes on each side) is one of the best maintained roads in Bangladesh, It has a divider; however it doesn't have a shoulder for emergency and breakdown.
