Sexto (''Barrio Sexto'') is one of the 31 barrios of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Along with Primero, Segundo, Tercero, Cuarto, and Quinto, Sexto is one of the municipality's six core urban barrios. Barrio Sexto used to be called Barrio Cantera. It was organized in 1878. Location Sexto is an urban barrio located in the southern section of the municipality, within the Ponce city limits, and north of the traditional center of the city, Plaza Las Delicias. The former name of barrio Sexto (Sixth) was barrio Cantera (Quarry) because there was a stone quarry in that region. At northeast of Plaza Las Delicias were located the "Baños Termales de Quintana" (Quintana Thermal Baths)The Quintana Baths were destroyed in the last decades of the 20th century to channelize Río Portugués as well as to build the PR-10 road from Ponce to Adjuntas. Portugués Urbano is one of the 31 barrios in the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Along with Canas Urbano, Machuelo Abajo, Magueyes Urbano, and San Antón, Portugués Urbano is one of the municipality's five originally rural barrios that are now also part of the urban zone of the city of Ponce. The Antiguo Hospital Militar Español de Ponce (English: ''Old Spanish Military Hospital in Ponce'') is a historic building in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in the city's historic district. Pedro Juan Rodríguez Ferrer (31 January 1933 – 1 December 2000), better known as Pete "El Conde" Rodríguez, was a Salsa music, salsa singer born in Sexto (Ponce), Barrio Cantera, Ponce, Puerto Rico.Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce, Puerto Rico.
