2010 Czech Senate Election
Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic for a third of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Czech Senate (27 seats) in October 2010. The first round was held on 15 and 16 October 2010, with a second round on 22 and 23 October 2010. The election was a major success for the Czech Social Democratic Party, who gained 12 seats to become the largest party, with 41. The liberal conservatism, liberal conservative Civic Democratic Party (Czech Republic), Civic Democratic Party fell 11 seats to 25, while the centre-right group led by TOP 09 lost 4 seats to leave them on 5 seats: equal with the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party. This is a list of political parties in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic has a multi-party system. Due to the electoral system used, a limited number of parties are successful in each parliamentary election. Parliamentary parties There are currently seven parties in the Chamber of Deputies – ANO 2011, the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), Mayors and Independents (STAN), the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL), Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD), TOP 09 and the Czech Pirate Party (Pirates). All of these parties except the SPD also have at least one seat in the Senate. Since the 2022 Czech Senate election, Senator 21 (SEN 21) have had four seats in the Senate, Mayors for the Liberec Region (SLK) have two Senate seats, and Svobodní have one Senate seat. Populism refers to a range of political stances that emphasize the idea of "the people" and often juxtapose this group against " the elite". Most (city)
Most (; german: Brüx; la, Pons) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 63,000 inhabitants. It lies between the Central Bohemian Uplands and the Ore Mountains, approximately northwest of Prague along the Bílina River and southwest of Ústí nad Labem. Administrative parts Most is made up of eight city parts and villages: Most, Starý Most, Čepirohy, Komořany, Rudolice, Souš, Velebudice and Vtelno. * Rudolice is home to the Chanov housing estate, created during the communist era, which has become a symbol of the poverty and ghettoization of many Romani people in the Czech Republic. * Vtelno used to be a village near Most. When the new city was built near it, Vtelno became an integral part of Most. Senate Of The Parliament Of The Czech Republic
The Senate (), literally "Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic", is the upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The seat of the Senate is Wallenstein Palace in Prague. Structure The Senate has 81 members, chosen in single-seat constituencies through the two-round system. If no candidate receives a majority of votes in the first round, there is a second round between the two highest-placed candidates. The term of office for Senators is six years, and elections are staggered so that a third of the seats are up for election every two years. A candidate for the Senate does not need to be on a political party's ticket (unlike in the Chamber of Deputies). The Senate has one President and four Vice-presidents. Ústí nad Labem Region or Ústecký Region ( cs, Ústecký kraj, , ), is an administrative unit ( cs, kraj) of the Czech Republic, located in the north-western part of the historical land of Bohemia, and named after the capital, Ústí nad Labem. It covers the majority of the former North Bohemia province ( cs, Severočeský kraj) and is part of the broader area of North Bohemia. Bohemia
Bohemia ( ; cs, Čechy ; ; hsb, Čěska; szl, Czechy) is the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech Republic. Bohemia can also refer to a wider area consisting of the historical Lands of the Bohemian Crown ruled by the Bohemian kings, including Moravia and Czech Silesia, in which case the smaller region is referred to as Bohemia proper as a means of distinction.
