Alena Dernerová (born 13 September 1958) is a Czech politician and pediatric neurologist. An independent, Dernerová became Senator for Most as a result of the 2010 Czech Senate election, ahead of Social Democrat Zdeněk Brabec in the second round of voting. She was affiliated with the Severočeši.cz Severočeši.cz ( en, North Bohemians.cz) is a Regionalism (politics), regionalist political party in the Czech Republic. The Senate (), literally "Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic", is the upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The seat of the Senate is Wallenstein Palace in Prague. Structure The Senate has 81 members, chosen in single-seat constituencies through the two-round system. If no candidate receives a majority of votes in the first round, there is a second round between the two highest-placed candidates. The term of office for Senators is six years, and elections are staggered so that a third of the seats are up for election every two years. A candidate for the Senate does not need to be on a political party's ticket (unlike in the Chamber of Deputies). The Senate has one President and four Vice-presidents. Social Democracy ( cs, Sociální demokracie, SOCDEM), known as the Czech Social Democratic Party ( cs, Česká strana sociálně demokratická, links=no, ČSSD) until 10 June 2023, is a social-democratic political party in the Czech Republic. Most (city)
Most (; german: Brüx; la, Pons) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 63,000 inhabitants. It lies between the Central Bohemian Uplands and the Ore Mountains, approximately northwest of Prague along the Bílina River and southwest of Ústí nad Labem. Administrative parts Most is made up of eight city parts and villages: Most, Starý Most, Čepirohy, Komořany, Rudolice, Souš, Velebudice and Vtelno. * Rudolice is home to the Chanov housing estate, created during the communist era, which has become a symbol of the poverty and ghettoization of many Romani people in the Czech Republic. * Vtelno used to be a village near Most. When the new city was built near it, Vtelno became an integral part of Most. 2010 Czech Senate Election
Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic for a third of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Czech Senate (27 seats) in October 2010. The first round was held on 15 and 16 October 2010, with a second round on 22 and 23 October 2010. The election was a major success for the Czech Social Democratic Party, who gained 12 seats to become the largest party, with 41. The liberal conservatism, liberal conservative Civic Democratic Party (Czech Republic), Civic Democratic Party fell 11 seats to 25, while the centre-right group led by TOP 09 lost 4 seats to leave them on 5 seats: equal with the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party. The Czech Republic is a unitary parliamentary republic, in which the President is the head of state and the Prime Minister is the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the Government of the Czech Republic which reports to the Chamber of Deputies. The Legislature is exercised by the Parliament.
