Seton, Calgary
Seton is a suburban residential/commercial/institutional community under construction in southeast Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located directly south of Auburn Bay and east of Cranston. Its boundaries are presently Deerfoot Trail to the west, Seton Blvd. to the north, and an extension of 52 St. S.E. to the east. Its southern boundary is defined by a proposed unnamed arterial road. The community is currently represented on Calgary City Council by the Ward 12 councillor. Seton was established in 2018 however construction began on some amenities several years prior, when completed, will include a mixture of residential and business development, and will be served by a proposed southeast leg of the city's C-Train system, also known as the Green Line. Seton is home to the South Health Campus, a major hospital for the Calgary Region, which opened in 2011. Deerfoot Trail
Deerfoot Trail is a freeway segment of Highway 2 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It stretches the entire length of the city from south to north and links suburbs to downtown via Memorial Drive and 17 Avenue SE. The freeway begins south of Calgary where it splits from Macleod Trail, crosses the Bow River into city limits, and reaches the Stoney Trail ring road. Crisscrossing twice more with the river, it intersects Glenmore Trail and Memorial Drive; the former is a major east–west expressway while the latter is a freeway spur into downtown. Mahogany, Calgary
Mahogany is a suburban residential neighbourhood in Calgary, Alberta that was approved by its city council for development beginning in 2007. The community is bordered by 52 St SE to the west, along with the community of Auburn Bay, Stoney Trail to the north, the proposed East Freeway to the east, and an eastern extension of Seton Boulevard (dubbed 196 Avenue SE) to the south. Mahogany is being developed by Hopewell Residential Communities of Calgary. The chosen builders within Mahogany include: Jayman, Sabal, Stepper Homes and Trico Homes. Calbridge, Baywest and Morrison Homes started building in Mahogany at the end of 2010. The Mahogany Sales Centre and Show Home Parade officially opened on Saturday September 13, 2008. The Calgary Metropolitan Region (CMR), also commonly referred to as the Calgary Region, is a conglomeration of municipalities centred on Calgary, the largest city in Alberta. South Health Campus
South Health Campus (SHC) is a large hospital in Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. It is administered by Alberta Health Services. The building was developed by Alberta Infrastructure, and the first phase was built at a cost of $1.31 billion. The South Health Campus was fully operational by 2016. It has the capacity to handle 800,000 ambulatory visits per year, and it performs approximately 2,500 births every year. It includes a 24-hour emergency department, an intensive care unit (ICU), as well as day surgery units. Services are provided for a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions. The facility currently serves 200,000 outpatients annually. The entire facility (including planned future additions) has been designed for 2,400 full-time-equivalent staff, including 180 physicians, along with 644 inpatient beds and 11 operating rooms. Green Line (Calgary)
The Green Line is a light rail (LRT) line under construction in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The line will run between Calgary’s north-central and southeastern boundaries, connecting with the Red Line and Blue Line in the city’s downtown. The Green Line is the largest public infrastructure project in Calgary's history and will be the first rail line in the city to operate low-floor trains. C-Train
CTrain (previously branded C-Train) is a light rail rapid transit system in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Most of the network functions as a light metro, though in the free-fare zone that runs through the downtown core the Red and Blue lines operate like a urban tramway (this transition occurs due to the density of stations in the free-fare zone, and is possible due to the design of the rail vehicles and their ability to operate on both segregated and road-integrated tracks).
