Sandy Hook, Maryland
Sandy Hook is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Washington County, Maryland, United States. Its population was 188 as of the 2010 census. Sandy Hook was briefly important as for a few years it was the end of the line for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, then under construction. This period ended with the opening of the B & O Railroad Potomac River Crossing in 1837. During John Brown's 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry, just to the west, across the bridge, a special train that had carried soldiers was parked at Sandy Hook, and it carried the telegraph that reporters used to send out voluminous stories. Baltimore and Ohio Railroad night watchman Patrick Higgins lived in Sandy Hook from 1853 until his death in 1915. La Paz (IPA: ɐ 'pas, officially the Municipality of La Paz ( war, Bungto han La Paz; tl, Bayan ng La Paz), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 19,174 people. History In the 1870s, a sitio was formed, and a chapel was built there before 1886. The chapel was called ''"rosaryohan."'' Spanish missionaries visited this place to teach the natives the doctrine. However, the people had to go to Dulag for the Holy Week and days of obligation in order to attend mass. Until then, the sitio was named ''Cabadyangan''. The United States Army Center of Military History (CMH) is a directorate within the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. The Institute of Heraldry remains within the Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. The center is responsible for the appropriate use of history and military records throughout the United States Army. Traditionally, this mission has meant recording the official history of the army in both peace and war, while advising the army staff on historical matters. The Pulahan (literally "those wearing red" in Cebuano; es, pulajanes), also known as dios-dios, were the members of a religious revival of Philippine beliefs that developed in the Visayas prior to the Philippine Revolution. At its peak, it numbered around 10,000–15,000 adherents. The movement was severely crippled during the Philippine Revolution after the Philippine Constabulary took over patrols in Samar, when the U.S. military declared the island as "pacified". Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in the city of San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses , and as of 2014, had over 144,000 interments. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
