Sergio Escalante
Sergio Gustavo Escalante (born 9 March 1986 in Florencio Varela, Argentina) is an Argentine footballer currently playing for Sportivo Ameliano in the Paraguayan División Intermedia. Early life Escalante was born in Florencio Varela in the Buenos Aires Province. Career Early career Escalante came through the Newell's Old Boys youth system. Later, Escalante continued his career at Argentino de Rosario. 2007 In 2007, Escalante formed part of Argentine team Temperley's roster with colleagues as goalkeeper Federico Crivelli, and Rodrigo Salomón, Mauro Navas, Cristian Revainera and Fernando Pasquinelli. 2009 In May 2009, Escalante scored a double for Japanese founded club Nikkei Bellmare in a 3–1 home victory against River Plate Asunción in the Primera C. Sportivo Luqueño
Club Sportivo Luqueño is a Paraguayan football club, based in the city of Luque on the outskirts of the capital Asunción. The club has won two Paraguayan championships. History The club was founded in 1921 when three teams from the city of Luque (Marte Atlético, General Aquino and Vencedor) decided to merge and form one single club: Sportivo Luqueño. Only three years after its foundation, the team was already playing in the first division and fighting for the title. So far, Sportivo Luqueño has won three first division titles in the Paraguayan league, in 1951, 1953 and 2007. José Ortigoza
José María Ortigoza Ortiz (; born 1 April 1987) is a Paraguayan football striker who plays for Cerro Porteño. Career Club Ortigoza started his career with the Paraguayan club Sol de América, where he played alongside Pablo Zeballos. He quickly made a good impression and established himself as one of the team's best players, finishing second in goal-scoring in the Apertura 2008 tournament along with Julio Aguilar. Ricardo Antonio La Volpe Guarchoni (; born 6 February 1952) is an Argentine former professional footballer and manager. He is a World Cup-winning goalkeeper who played for most of his career in Argentina and Mexico. As a coach, La Volpe was in charge of both the Mexico and Costa Rica national teams, coaching the former at the 2006 World Cup. As club manager at Atlante, the league title was won in the 1992–93 season. On 22 April 2020, in an interview with David Faitelson, he announced his retirement from management. Club Rubio Ñu is a Paraguayan football club based in the Barrio Santísima Trinidad of Asunción. The club was founded August 24, 1913 and plays in the División Intermedia, the second division of the Paraguayan football league. Their home games are played at the Estadio La Arboleda which has a capacity of approximately 8,000 seats. History The club was founded in 1913 by a group of young friends that chose white and green as the colors in representation of "purity" and "hope", respectively. Club Guaraní is a Paraguayan football team, based in the neighbourhood of Pinozá in outer Asunción. Founded on 12 October 1903, it is one of the oldest and one of the most successful in the country, with eleven Primera División titles, and has never been relegated to a lower division. History Club Guaraní is the second oldest Paraguayan football club. It was founded in 1903 under the name of "Football Club Guaraní" and its first president was Juan Patri. The name of the club derives from the Guaraní people, a big part of Paraguayan culture and history. The colours of the club, black and yellow, were proposed by the Melina brothers (also among the founders of the club) in reference to the colours of Uruguayan club Peñarol, where the Melina brothers played for a few years.
